The City of Miami Beach is opening the Joe Rubin interior handball courts next week as planned, however, we want to make you aware that the flooring needs to be retouched prior to project completion.
Project Overview and Benefits
Flamingo Park spans more than 36 acres in South Beach. As funding becomes available, the city will continue to upgrade park amenities to enhance public enjoyment. As various sections of the master plan are completed, residents and visitors will have brand new amenities at Flamingo Park to make playtime more fun and functional.
What's Happening
The newly renovated Joe Rubin Handball Courts at Flamingo Park will reopen for public play by May 3 as previously announced. Even though the courts are ready for play, the contractor will be completing minor punch list items such as touching up paint and reconditioning some of the flooring surfaces on the courts. Reconditioning the flooring surfaces is required in order to achieve the final desired look of the courts. Intermittent closures are likely at some courts during this period. The city will do its best to minimize disruptions to play.
Construction is now underway on the Robert Haas courts (see diagram) with completion expected in the fall of 2021. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding while the city makes long-lasting upgrades to our community amenities.
Please note, the project team is closely monitoring the situation surrounding COVID-19. The contractor is enforcing strict social distancing measures and employees are required to wear face coverings while on-site.
