PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- STEPHANIE WONG
Class "A" Professional, Point Grey Golf & Country Club

At which golf facility did you first begin working within the industry, and who was the PGA Professional?
I first started working at Musqueam about 10 years ago, then throughout university worked at BC Golf as an intern in the summers running the CN Future Links program. In 2017 I turned professional and started working at Point Grey Golf & Country Club lead by Dave Zibrik, and I am still there today.

If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?
Step out of your comfort zone and get involved. Play tournaments, attend education seminars and get to know the members of the association. Never stop learning, there are so many resources out there.

What is your most cherished golf memory?
Winning the NAIA Women’s Golf Championship with the UBC team in 2012.

What is an interesting fact about yourself that doesn't involve golf?
I love being outdoors amongst the mountains and travelling. If I am not on the golf course, I’m most likely hiking or on another adventure.

FACT OF THE WEEK
Did you know that research services are available to golf facilities through the BC Golf House Society and Canadian Golf Hall of Fame? If your club is nearing a significant anniversary or milestone, these institutions are excellent resources to learn what historical info, photos or documents may be available within the archives specific to your facility.

Hall of Fame officials recommend starting the process of planning for anniversary celebrations years in advance, to form a committee to spearhead these efforts and to rely on club members as a key source of materials.

Contact Mike Riste at the BC Golf Museum at [email protected] for information or ideas on how to acknowledge your club's history, or click here for more info on how the museum has preserved the histories of golf courses throughout the province.
