PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- Virginia (Ginny) Golding
Head Professional, University Golf Club

Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
I can honestly say that my students over the past 38 years have influenced my career. Their trust in me and dedication cemented my commitment to be the best teacher I can be.

What career path led you to where you are today?
I taught elementary school for 8 years and in this time I knew that teaching was my calling.

Which significant accomplishments are you most proud of?
Over the past 38 years I have established a strong and loyal following of men and women trusting me in their game development. This allowed me to segue into the golf travel business which resulted in multiple golf and sightseeing tours worldwide. My business is 99% referral based and has allowed me to be a full time instructor for the majority of my career.

What is your most cherished golf memory?
I had the opportunity to play Kingsbarns Golf Course in Scotland with Neil Verway who was my first influence. As a child, I would catch his shots with my ball glove in the field at Thames Valley GC. I would then caddy for Neil. Neil would have been the first to teach me the grip and how to swing my hickory sticks!
