CANUCKS JUNIOR GOLF WEEK CONCLUDES WITH SUCCESSFUL RETURN TO FACILITIES IN 2022
One of the province’s most impactful junior-golf initiatives made a triumphant return this month, as Canucks Junior Golf Week presented by TD concluded Monday at facilities across British Columbia.

The program attracted hundreds of girls and boys across the province to get an unparalleled introduction to the game through PGA of BC Professionals.
More than 5,000 British Columbia youth and counting have come through the Canucks Junior Golf Week program since it first launched in 2014 as a joint initiative of the PGA of BC and Vancouver Canucks, each of which share the belief that children benefit from enhanced physical literacy, improved hand-eye coordination and more through participation in a variety of sports.

Unable to operate each of the past two summers due to COVID-19 concerns, Canucks Junior Golf Week enjoyed a fantastic re-emergence during July 11 to 18 with more than 50 single-day camps operating at a record number of PGA of BC facilities in two-dozen communities throughout the province. The PGA of BC and hosting Professionals appropriately reduced capacity for this year’s camps, adhering to health and safety guidelines to ensure for the well-being of all those who attended.

AITKEN MEETS PAT TARGET SCORE AT ARBUTUS RIDGE
Kelowna Golf & Country Club's Joel Aitken was the lone applicant who was able to tame difficult conditions and achieve the Playing Ability Test (PAT) target standards at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club.

Thursday’s PAT had 14 male & female participants attempting to shoot at or below a predetermined score relative to course rating based upon their age, which is a requirement for non-exempt applicants to become a PGA of Canada Professional.

There is one more PGA of BC-administered PAT scheduled for 2022, taking place September 13th at Belmont Golf Course in Langley, BC.

Current and prospective applicants may visit www.pgaofcanada.com/join for full details on how to become a member of the PGA of Canada, or to find information and registration links for upcoming PATs.

GOLFATHON FOR ALS WRAPS UP ITS 17TH YEAR
With the final Golfathon for ALS events having taken place last week, the PGA of BC would like to send a heartfelt thanks to all those who took part in the 2022 campaign.

Over 30 facilities participated in the 17th annual event raising funds for the ALS Society of BC benefiting patient services. As donations continue to roll in over the next few weeks, a final tabulation will be calculated and presented later this fall at the 2022 PGA of BC Awards Celebration presented by Replay Golf Supplies & Tribal.

Additionally, local Courtenay, BC artist, Don Hardie, has generously donated an original framed painting of the 9th Hole at Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community (pictured) as a thank you for the efforts of all golf professionals. The PGA of BC Administration conducted a draw of all PGA of BC members participating in the 2022 Golfathon for ALS and the lucky recipient of the art piece is Norm Jackson of Cowichan Golf Club.
