Increase in Loitering and Delinquency in the Neighborhood
Many people have stopped by our office to alert us of an increase in loitering and delinquency at the corner of Belmont and Broadway. Please contact 911/311 to report any public consumption or criminal activity. We are working with the police and the alderman's office to address these community concerns.

On August 28th we welcomed PrideArts back to the stage after a year without shows! We were thrilled to celebrate the return of staged in-person theatrical performances at the Chicago institution. They ensured the highest level of COVID-safety precautions for their performance!

PrideArts aspires to be a year round facility where people from the neighborhood and from around the globe can see excellent queer centric works which are essential viewing for all.

Movement Gym | 1111 W. Addison
Today we welcomed Movement Gym to the neighborhood! Their staff has been hard at work preparing the facility for the Wrigleyville community, and they are finally able to show off their hard work! They are excited to join the Wrigleyville & Lakeview communities. Their space is open to the public September 1 at 12pm and they'd love to have you join them for their first week open. No prior climbing experience needed! They’ll be able to show you the basics and get you on the wall.

Emergency Preparedness for Public Art Collections
September 14 @ 1:00 p.m. ET
Extreme weather conditions are becoming more and more of a norm for communities across the United States. Locations with public art collections need to have a plan in place for when unpredictable weather strikes. In this 3-hour intensive, participants will work with a public art conservator on how to plan for the worst. This intensive will cover what policies to have in place for emergency response, what information to have on hand to accurately survey damage, and the steps to take to develop a restoration plan for damaged artworks.

Arts Administrators Essentials: Supporting Individual Artists Digital Classroom
This digital classroom equips mid-level employees in arts organizations with the skills necessary to support individual creatives in their communities. Over 12 weeks, participants will learn how to lead from their position, strategies for engaging with communities, best practices for developing programming for creatives, and more. Our goal is to help participants use their knowledge and love for the arts to grow our nation’s creative economy.

Summer Series Returned to Deuces on August 26th!
We had an awesome turn out of over 150 people for our first summer series that was hosted at Deuce's Major League Bar in Wrigley!

The night was complete with our drink deals, buffet, giant games and over a dozen giveaways.

Patrick Wisdom of the Cubs celebrated his 30th Birthday with 4 home runs with two back to back games! He has 25 home runs this season, coming close to Rizzo's rookie record with 26.

Woman Killed in Hit and Run in Wrigleyville, Community Searches for Answers
As our community reels from the tragic hit and run at Addison and Newport that killed one and seriously injured another, we hope that the CPD detectives can help us find an answer and get justice for our community members and Sophie Allen, who's life was tragically cut short.

Earlier this week, SBA announced a moratorium on the requirement that participants in the 8(a) Business Development Program must establish a bona fide place of business in a specific geographic area in order to be awarded any construction contract through the 8(a) Program due to the ongoing challenges of COVID-19. The moratorium is effective August 25, and applies to all 8(a) construction contracts offered to the 8(a) Program between August 25 of this year and September 30, 2022.

Howard Brown Health announced a multi-year expansion plan to better serve its current and future patients. As Chicago’s premier LGBTQ nonprofit healthcare organization, this expansion would extend critical, high quality health and wellness programs to up to 15,000 additional patients per year. Plans include the development of a new and larger Broadway Youth Center to better serve LGBTQ youth; a new clinic on North Halsted to relocate the existing practice in Boystown; and a new clinic-anchored community center serving South Side LGBTQ residents.
