We are seeking to fill the role of Technical Director immediately.
Core Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support the needs of the design/production team in relationship to our venue and tech week/opening.
- Coordinate, Plan and Drive for Load in & Load Out
- Build/Bring to realization the rep set design which will include obtaining materials or pieces, transport logistics and fabrication/building of basic set items.
- Carpentry skills and basic building is a must
- Priority for safety is a must
- Ability to operate basic electric tools, gear, and venue equipment is a must (including light genie, cue lab, etc)
- A natural knack for creative and budget conscious problem solving
- Valid drivers license and comfortability driving a van or small truck in NYC traffic
Ideal candidate should be self- motivated, and organized while also being flexible. Have strong creative ability, with great communication skills. Ability to maintain and work within a small budget and meet deadlines, and work well within a team environment. Good computer literacy, attention to detail and great people skills.
Candidate should have general working knowledge of technical gear, equipment, and safety and be able to project manage technical schedules supporting the needs of all design members (Set, Lighting, Props and Costume Designers)
Should be comfortable working in a shared theatre space, possible shared rep lighting plot. Lighting designers should be comfortable working with Rep Plot and adding inventive and creative practical and added instrument solutions.
We are seeking flexible team players with an ensemble aesthetic and understanding of Indie Theatre. Particularly looking for theatre artists who are capable of and enjoy working within the limitations and unique challenges of OOBR/Indie theatre spaces & budgets.
We welcome theatrical artists of all backgrounds, and are especially seeking for our collaborators, guest artists and ensemble to represent the diverse and vibrant make-up that is New York City with multiple perspectives & influences.
Priority for interviews will be given to artists from the following backgrounds & identities: African American, African, Caribbean, and African Diasporic, Middle Eastern and North African, Latinx, Asian, South Asian, and Asian Diasporic, Native American, Pacific Islander, Trans and Non-binary, and those with physical disabilities. Additionally, those who are in a non-traditional/older age range. (Emerging & Mid-Career does not have to equal young in age)
