The AACY Caregiving Youth Project (CYP) helps identify, recognize, educate, and support students who care for chronically ill, injured, elderly, or disabled family members. This allows Caregiving Youth to achieve success, have fun, and make new friends while promoting academic and personal growth.

Thank you to all who have, who are, or who will be participating in the National Science Foundation's research with Dr. Betsy Olson and Leiha Edmonds from UNC Chapel Hill in NC.
You may not know that AACY is the epicenter of program development for assisting you with your caregiving responsibilities.
Sometimes people can't believe you are doing all that you do - they want formal data and to hear your voices.
Your participation and input will be shared throughout the US to help gain recognition for the millions of other Caregiving Youth who have no support - it is priceless!
Thank you!!

Everyone wants to learn more about Caregiving Youth!
The Caring Caregiver Show is a hub for caregiver connection. They are lifelong caregivers on a mission to bring community to those who selflessly put others first. They want you to know that you, too, have a hand to hold, and when together, we can make the caregiver journey a little easier for us all. Each week they feature topics ranging from self-care to respite resources to caregiver survivors just like you. They want you to feel at home here and leave caregivers more uplifted than they came. If you want to listen to Dr. Connie's interview, click this link, and you can fast-forward to her interview at the 15.00 marker.
We want to thank Savina for the opportunity to increase awareness about Caregiving Youth in their beautiful state and help raise awareness of Caregiving Youth and the Caregiving Youth Project. Huge thank you to the whole team for shining the light on our mission!

| Join us for CAREGIVING YOUTH ACTION DAY USA
|
|
We at AACY are so excited to announce that Andy McGowan, Policy and Practice Manager at Carers Trust in the UK will be joining our USA Caregiving Youth Action Day Zoom event on March 15th! The timing is a little late for him however, he will be featured in the early program. When we read about the Young Carers Action Day in the UK, it seemed like a wonderful way to join in this recognition of all children in this role, including those "across the pond!" USA participating organizations include Hope Loves Company, Hidden Helpers, Kaylin's Caring Konnection, Lorenzos House, The Caregivers Guardian and all Caregiving Youth without an organization offering support for them.

| Special thanks to West Boca High School

Amoy Gordon, MSW, RCSWI, AACY Caregiving Youth Project Director & Destiny Marshall, Behavioral Health Manager/Family Specialist visited West Boca High School this month and said hello to Mr. Capitano (Principal) who was very happy to see them there for the youth.
The AACY Caregiving Youth Project team spent some time with Ms. Canepa, who is the School Counselor and CYP contact.
AACY Caregiving Youth Program (CYP) leads Skills Building group sessions with kids who have caregiving responsibilities at home. Through support in Florida, the CYP team connects directly with students and the staff are so appreciative of our program!
We are making a difference.
The recognized staff members as well as other teachers and staff at West Boca High School are true supporters of AACY, and for that, we would like to extend our most sincere gratitude. Thank you for all that you do!

| Activities Recap & Preview:
|
|
Hello and Happy February, Everyone!
This month's featured activity was creating vision boards to prepare for the year ahead!
Vision boards are a collage of images and words representing dreams, goals, things, and people that matter.
When creating these boards, kids learn how to set goals, visualize their dreams, and stay focused on reaching their goals. This positive activity boosts self-confidence, exercises creativity, and encourages trying new things.
Vision boards are fun and effective because they are a visual reminder of intentions and shape positive thoughts and actions. Vision boards give you a clear direction for going where you want in several areas of your life, and they allow you to visualize what goals you want to achieve.
Another fun activity we love to do is Jeopardy! Teams Vintage Prints and Google went head to head, but Team Vintage Prints came out on top! The winners got to choose a prize graciously donated by Park Vista.
For Valentine's Day, Chef Rachel taught us how to make brownies with Black Beans! (You cannot even taste the beans, they came out delicious) and it looks like we have some future bakers in our program! While we waited for them to bake, we decorated sugar cookies and asked Chef Rachel about her journey as a baker! Thank you, Chef Rachel. You made our Valentine's Day very happy!
AACY also loves our Mathmagician, Ms. Jenna! She can read our minds and teach us a few of her magic tricks by using patterns and algebra! It's always fun to get together to learn some math magic!
Thank you, as always, to all of you who participate in our activities and make the world a little bit brighter for all of us for a while. It's great to get a break and have fun together.
Thanks for catching up on our activities. See you next month! ❤

It’s no secret – caregiving can be a tough job. On the days when you’re beyond stressed, you might feel completely alone. That couldn’t be further from the truth. In the United States, over 5.4 million caregivers aged 18 and under are currently helping their loved ones. There is an army of people who want nothing but the best for you. We are going to feature videos every month of other kids who've told their stories. Some are old, some will be new, and the goal is to let you see that other kids have been through this too.
Thank you for all that you do for your family. Remember: you are never alone.
