The Sixth Sunday of Easter
"Lord Voldemort's gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight it only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.”
- Dumbledore in The Goblet of Fire
July 18th-22. 2022, children will be invited to step into the wizarding world of Harry Potter and compete in the Goblet of Fire. We will face dragons, swim with mermaids, and search for the Goblet of Fire in Scramble. Through it all, we will encounter God through play.

Play and friendship are central themes for Hogwarts Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2022. It has been a challenging year for all of us and one that has tested our relationships. We have faced rhetoric of division and discord and wonder what God is doing. Frankly, we all could use some time to play with God and to be reminded of the love of friendship.

Similarly, in the Goblet of Fire, our book for this year's VBS, our characters are also facing a year at Hogwarts filled with challenges that test friendships and force them to be reminded of what really matters-love.

Therefore, each day of Hogwarts VBS we will dive deeper into the story of God’s playful love for us and learn how to love each other the way God loves us. Through games, art, science experiments, rest, and interactive scripture lessons, we will be challenged to wonder together about one of the following questions:
  • How do I play with God?
  • What does being friends with God really look like?
  • How do we love with open hearts?
  • What is my part to play in the story of God’s Love?
  • How do we become a community that plays together, that celebrates the unique gifts each of us has to offer, and who are united in friendship?
I am excited to see how God will join our conversations, and our play this year at Hogwarts Vacation Bible School. I can't wait to see more children encounter God's love for them and for them to show God's love to those around them. I pray it will inspire all of us to face the discord in our lives with God's unifying love.

I hope you will be a part of our playful, adventure back to Hogwarts this year! We invite you to register your children for Hogwarts VBS HERE

No doubt we have all been horrified by the unfolding crisis in Ukraine. While we have prayed, discussed and expressed our concerns and hope for peace and resolution, all of which are important, many of us are still trying to understand what we can do in terms of direct help to the families fleeing the violence and destruction right now.
Food, clothing, medical supplies and more are desperately needed, but with borders occupied and ceasefires ignored, how can we help?
Episcopal Relief & Development are working with Episcopal aid agencies from around the world to provide critical assistance to support Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Poland such as food, shelter, water and basic supplies.

Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development’s Ukraine Crisis Response Fund will help the organization and its partners continue to provide assistance to people displaced by the crisis in Ukraine.
We will visit The Falls Church Presbyterian for their worship service. We will meet in the upper narthex at 10:20 AM and walk across the street for their 10:45 AM worship service. We should return to the The Falls Church around 12 PM.
This Sunday, May 22nd, 2022, everyone is invited to our VBS Preview Event! This is not a drop-off event.

Come to the 9:00 AM Service dressed in your favorite Hogwarts Look, VBS shirt, or favorite magically outfit. After the service, we will have a magical coffee hour. Then from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM, come to our Hogwarts Open House!
