Born out of a collaboration with Lutheran churches in San Bruno, Millbrae, and South San Francisco, Unity Lutheran Church is a welcoming community led by Pastor John Kuehner. Last weekend, Women of the ELCA (WELCA) in our Synod gathered for a day of fellowship, lunch and service. Centered around the theme of "Hope", they welcomed over 50 participants from numerous churches throughout our synod. See more of the pictures from the day here.

The Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, Rev. Dr. Megan Rohrer, Bishop of the Sierra Pacific Synod, and Bishop Sally Dyck, the Ecumenical Officer of the United Methodist Church California-Nevada Conference have written faith letters of concern, lifting up our religious beliefs that all must be treated with dignity and respect. Join us and the chorus of voices urging the termination of the contract between the Yuba County Jail and ICE. This is the last contract between a county jail in California and ICE to house immigrants, and is not expected to end until 2099.

Earth Day Worship Materials

Our friends at Lutheran Restoring Creation are releasing a series of worship materials for your congregation to incorporate into your worship service near Earth Day, happening on April 22nd.

Additionally, the organization will be hosting an Earth Day Online Service. The service will go live on the 22nd and will include scripture readings for that Sunday, April 24th. This service will have full Spanish translation.

Ukraine & Eastern Europe: Updates from Lutheran Disaster Response

"The Rev. Daniel Rift, Director for ELCA World Hunger and Lutheran Disaster Response Fund, talked live with the Rev. Dr. Rafael Malpica-Padilla, Executive Director for Service and Justice, and the Rev. Rachel Eskesen, Area Desk Director for Europe. They discussed the situation in Eastern Europe and Rafael and Rachel shared about the ELCA’s response. This conversation took place Mar. 16, 2022."

Synod Assembly 2022
Synod Assembly Registration Open!
Open March 1 - May 1, 2022

Registration for Synod Assembly 2022 is now open! The Assembly will commence on Thursday, June 2, 2022 and close Saturday, June 4, 2022. In order to attend synod assembly as a voting member in-person, all individuals will need to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. Registration for the Synod Assembly or any of the accompanying events must be completed online.

As hundreds of our fellow Lutherans will be attending the Assembly to Worship, Learn, and Conduct the Business of the Sierra Pacific Synod, volunteers are needed to assist Assembly attendees.

Synod Assembly

We have additional special events happening before and during the Assembly that we're inviting non-voting and voting members to. A Day of Service, Rachel Kurtz Concert, LGBTQ+ Workshop, and Sierra Pacific Outdoors Fundraiser.

Individuals can attend the special events even if they are not attending synod assembly!
