Synod Snapshots from this Week!
Bishop Rohrer and their family worshipped with Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasanton yesterday morning! Thank you to Rev. Heidi Hester and the welcoming folk of Trinity for their hospitality. Learn more about their congregation here.
Our Sierra Pacific Synod Youth Committee (SPSYC) gathered in-person for the first time this year! The group elected new leadership, spent time getting to know each other and planned for an upcoming event. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement from SPSYC coming soon!
Rev. Tita Valeriano preached and presided at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in San Francisco, CA yesterday! St. Mark's recently brought back their choir, pictured here in the loft above the sanctuary! Learn more about St. Mark's here.
On Saturday, our Synod Vice President Gail Kiyomura, along with Synod Secretary Jeff Pennington and Synod Treasurer Rev. Sharon Amundson, gathered with 50+ Congregational Officers via zoom! This gathering provided congregational officers the opportunity to learn from each other, ask questions to the Synod and hear from guest presenters. Special thanks to Rev. Manda Truchinski for presenting on compensation for our Rostered Leaders as we inch towards the new fiscal year!
Over 60 Rostered Leaders and a few spouses gathered in Lake Tahoe this week for our annual Professional Leaders Conference! The PLC focused on wellness this year, which for many, included lots of music! PLC was held in the beautiful Lake Tahoe this year and many of our Rostered Leaders practiced their wellness outdoors! The group saw a bit of snow fall on the first day and enjoyed the clean, crisp mountain air.
This year, our PLC hosted 3 pre-gatherings the day before the main event. There was a pre-gathering for LGBTQ+ Rostered Leaders, BIPOC Rostered Leaders and Women Rostered Leaders. The groups met independently and then gathered together to learn more about how they can continue to celebrate and lift up the intersections they embody.
One of our guest speakers at PLC was a Somatic Movement Therapist and worked in small and large groups with our Rostered Leaders on different body movements and ways to care for our physical selves.
The art of PLAY! One of our PLC guest speakers led our Rostered Leaders through different childhood games, activities and songs to bring out that inner-play. The room instantly filled with laughter and joy as we simply played together!
This past Saturday, the Rev. Bill Wong, Call Process Assistant for the Synod and long-time faithful Pastor, celebrated 40 years of ordained ministry! Join us in celebrating Rev. Bill Wong for his decades of faithful service to the church - and for all those who serve lifelong vocations in the Sierra Pacific Synod.

Synodical Support in Worship
Is your congregation worshipping virtually or in a hybrid manner? Could your congregation benefit from a pre-recorded section of your worship service from the Synod for your use? The Office of the Bishop team would like to offer support with your worship services!

Anything from pre-recorded sermons, pre-recorded children's messages, pre-recorded music, etc. We're here to support you! We're able to provide some of these pre-recorded options in Spanish and English.

Please fill out this form to give us a bit of insight about what would be most helpful for your congregation.
