Hello Friend!
Do you know what it’s like to juggle while playing the game Jenga at the same time? That’s what I’ve been doing all week and PHEW my brain is tired.

We absolutely love that in-person classes are returning to the store this fall. Hearing the buzz of sewing machines and laughter from the classroom is something that has been a huge gap since March 2020. We were lucky enough to have a few classes running in the spring and it was just a reminder of what we were missing.

BUT…

The actual of process of scheduling these classes, gathering samples and pictures, writing descriptions about them...is an ordeal to say the least!
I hope you’ll forgive the lack of an elaborate themed email this week, as I walk you through some behind the scenes efforts of bringing you a calendar of exciting classes for the fall term.

This email is intended to be a lighthearted attempt to help you learn about the classes we have lined up for fall in a way that suits your style of browsing. We hope you will be inspired to come back to class this fall. We've missed you!

So let's walk through the process...
Start With an Amazing Group of Teachers!

Of course, the most important part of the whole process is having a team of amazing teachers who pull together their ideas for fall classes. They come up with the ideas, make the samples and prepare their lesson plans. After that, it’s up to me to…
Schedule, Schedule, Schedule!
I begin by scheduling everything out on a calendar. I juggle emails from teachers, their ideas, their work schedules and room availability. Inevitably, at least three or four times in that process (and usually right when I think I'm finally done), Studio 180 instructor Leianne will change a class date or notice a small mistake and that's when the game of Jenga starts. Changing one small thing can cause the entire tower of class blocks to come tumbling down!

Because many of you like to see what’s going on at Quilters Cupboard in a calendar format, I pretty up the calendar as best I can so that it can be accessed from the website.
Admittedly, this is the least pretty option for viewing the class options because there are no pictures available, but if you want to know what's going on at Quilters Cupboard at a glance, then this option is for you! If you're more of a visual person who wants to be inspired by project pictures, there are better options available.
Note: The calendar format will look a little different when you first open it. You can change the view and switch between dates and months as you wish.
Publish to the Website and Open Registrations!
Once I, hopefully, settle on the schedule, the next step is to publish classes to the website and open them for registrations.
The website is where you can go to find detailed information about upcoming classes including pictures and information about projects for upcoming classes. Classes are organized as Beginner Friendly, Handwork, Leianne's Studio and assorted other categories to help you narrow down what you're looking for.

From the website you will be able to register for any upcoming class. Please note, we do not take class registrations over the phone but are happy to register you if you're shopping in-person.
Class Catalogue

It's about this point in the process that my head really starts to hurt. After updating class information on a calendar and on the website, I have to transfer all that information, in a completely different format, into a Class Catalogue.
The Class Catalogue allows you to scroll through the complete list of course offerings and hopefully find a class or two that calls to you. Will it be, Beginner Appliqué, Maddie's Christmas Sampler Quilt or one of Leianne's many offerings this fall? Browse through and take a look. If you would like to sign up, find the class on the website and register accordingly.
Email and Social Media Promotion

After all that is done, then it's a matter of promoting individual classes. I'm only going to touch on a few classes right now. I will go into greater detail on individual classes in the weeks ahead. For now, you can browse the email below to see a few highlights.
Mistakes...

As you can imagine, trying to keep not one, but four, completely different sources of class information up to date can be a challenging exercise. I freely admit that you will probably notice a few typos or errors somewhere along the line. I have made every attempt to proof-read as best I can, but mistakes happen. If I waited all until three documents and this email were perfect, this email would not be happening today. While I know some of you like to "correct my work" on occasion, I would sincerely appreciate it if you held back this week.
