With Valentine’s Day a little over two weeks away, I thought I would take this opportunity to sent you an early Love Note to thank you for your ongoing support but to also give you some encouragement to start getting ready for the ‘big day’. I could be talking about a fancy Date Night, but I could also be prompting you to send a Love Note to your Sweetheart. Maybe it’s a little bit of all three!

A Love Note
I was struggling to find a way to transition between Date Night and the next collection in this email, when an actual Love Note appeared on Instagram. It was a sign. It was a Love Note direct from the Basic Grey designers. I was so moved (and relieved) that I might have shed a tear or two!

Love Note is a FREE Pattern available from Fat Quarter shop and it's a gentle reminder to share love with all your friends and family, no matter if they are near or far. Isn't the pattern adorable? Of course you can make Love Note in traditional red, white and pink fabrics or step out for a night on the town and take the level of sophistication up a notch or two!

When we saw the mock-ups for Love Note done in both Date Night and Nutmeg fabrics (more about that collection soon), we knew that we had to share these with you and make it easy to make with a few kits!

New Arrival! Nutmeg
Thank goodness for the Love Note tie in because otherwise the transition from Date Night to Nutmeg might have seemed odd. These are both amazing new collections from Basic Grey, but from a writer and image creator's point of view that's a tough one to manage.

Nutmeg, by Basic Grey and Moda Fabrics, features fabulous florals, singing birds, gorgeous geometrics and brilliant tone on tone prints in pink, orange, yellow, blue, denim and cream. Don't let the name make you think too much of fall, this collection is so much more than that!

We have almost collectively all agreed that these fabrics will make some amazing bags. The Everyday Tote is one of our favourite bags because it's so versatile. It's a FREE pattern from Northcott and we love to come up with different combinations with it. With a pinch of Nutmeg this version is a delicious success!

Sad News - Martingale Book Publisher Going Out of Business
This is definitely not the kind of announcement that anyone wants to make but we are sending our love to the many quilt designers and authors whose books were published by Martingale. Martingale has announced that they will be going out of business. This will impact some of Quilters Cupboard favourites including Kim Diehl, Moda All-Stars, Buttermilk Basin and many others.
Get Them Before They are Gone!
It is unknown at this time what will happen with many of these great book titles. If you've been wanting to expand your quilt reference library, we suggest you shop now. These books will not be reprinted, and the quantities of many books are limited.
