General
Mission Sunday
SSPC has a rich history of supporting monetarily and physically, local and not-so-local mission works. To celebrate the many mission works that SSPC members are involved in, please wear any T-shirts, ball caps, etc. that you have received doing God's work when you attend services on Mission Sunday January 16th, 2022.
Thanks, your Mission Committee

Annual Meeting of the Congregation - Sunday, January 30, 2022
The Session has called the Annual Meeting of the Congregation for January 30th at 10:00 am in the Meeting House for the purpose of receiving the 2021 Annual Report and the 2022 budget. In addition there will be a vote on the Pastors' 2022 Terms of Call and presentation of a Deacon nominee to fill a vacancy in the Class of 2022. There will also be an opportunity to join the meeting via Zoom.

Church office closing
The church office will be closed Monday, January 17th for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Christian Churches United and the Race & Unity Action Coalition invites you to their 4th Annual MLK Day Worship Service on Monday, January 17 at 6:00 pm
The service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Lemoyne, and will also be streamed on Facebook and YouTube. We are excited to feature Rev. Carla Christopher-Wilson as our guest preacher and to present information on various ways we can be supportive of working towards the beloved community that MLK envisioned. In-person attendance will be limited and masks required to maintain a safe environment with appropriate distancing, so if you would like to attend in person, please pre-register here.  Live-stream can be found here or by searching GraceUMLemoyne on YouTube.

Church Flowers
Flowers are a wonderful way to commemorate a special event, honor a loved one or praise the Glory of God. A $40 contribution will provide chancel flowers to enhance the beauty of the Meeting House (after many years, our florist has raised their price for a set of altar vases). Sign-up sheets are on the bulletin board in the hallway by the drinking fountain. Please prayerfully consider donating flowers so that we can continue this beautiful tradition.

Mission
ROAR Winter Mission Trip
We are back (hopefully) to a regular schedule for ROAR Mission trips. The winter trip for February of 2022 is in Gainesville, Florida. We will be working with Alachua Habitat For Humanity building new homes with Habitat partner families. The work week will be Monday, January 31 through Friday, February 04, 2022. Volunteers will arrive at the hotel on Sunday, January 30, 2022 with an option to arrive on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

The plan is to frame up at least two homes during the week. As always, you do not need building skills to be a part of the team. Everyone can do something to help build the homes and learn a new skill at the same time. If you are interested in being part of the 2022 winter ROAR Team, please contact Terry Reed at [email protected], or call Terry at 717-766-2714, or see Terry at church.

Thank you from New Hope Ministries
Thank you from New Hope Ministries for all the food that was collected in 2021. Approximately 775 pounds of food was collected from SSPC last year. Happy New Year!

Youth
Youth Sunday is February 20, 2022!
Youth Sunday is right around the corner! It is February 20th this year so preparation is underway. We have chosen to base our service on Genesis 45:3-11,15, the story of Joseph, and Luke 6:27-38 where we are urged to love our enemies. We will continue to prepare at CORE every Sunday evening in January. We will also have our final Youth Sunday rehearsal on February 19th from 4-8ish. Feel free to join us to participate in this great tradition; just come to CORE on Sundays from 6-8!

Zeteo is coming February 4-6, 2022!
I have bought tickets and reserved hotel rooms for the folks that let me know they would like to come already. If you have not yet let me know, and would like to come, please do asap.

Valentines Day Special is February 13 from 5-8!
The main purpose of this event is to entertain kids of all ages to give parents a few hours to have dinner or simply spend time with their valentine! We will serve dinner, play tons of games, and have a short lesson led by our youth pertaining to Youth Sunday. Please rsvp your child so I can have enough food for everyone. You can do so by sending me an email: [email protected]

I recently set up a GroupMe chat for the Youth Min. This is another way I will send out Youth Min Announcements. You can request to join the group with this link: Click HERE.

Dear Church Family,
It is so comforting to have the love and support of my SSPC family. The visits, food, poems, gift cards, phone calls, cards, and mini-Christmas tree were greatly appreciated. I love you all and look forward to seeing you again in fellowship. With love during this difficult time, Deb Pfaff
