From the Desk of the STE-CA President

Regarding the Los Angeles Fires

In light of the devastating fires impacting the Los Angeles area, our hearts go out to all those affected, including members of our Society, their families, and colleagues. As an organization that thrives on its members' collaboration and innovation, we stand ready to support one another in these challenging times.

Join us this Thursday and share requests with our STE Friends and Family and how we can be involved with you.

For those members interested in contributing to Relief efforts, we encourage you to donate to local organizations working on the ground, such as the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation or the Red Cross. Every effort, no matter how small, can make a significant impact. We support and keep all of the residents affected by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

Greetings!

The Society of Television Engineers is pleased to announce the upcoming presentation on Thursday, January 16th, 2025 at the Elks Lodge in Glendale.

In this interesting presentation Chase Hagen will present a research oriented perspective from ARRI in relation to the increasingly popular “merging” of the Cine + live production workflows in the market of Live Entertainment.

This includes the key decision markers and the differences in workflow between the two types of production; in addition Chase will highlight the primary challenges that need to be overcome for a successful Live production captured with Cinema cameras like the ALEXA 35.

Chase will expand upon the core challenges and benefits of merging the previously very different and distinct workflows with the currently available product offerings by sharing several case studies with productions like Coachella, past Super Bowl half time shows, and more recently an NBA production that have all utilized ARRI camera technology to improve their workflow and deliver the cinematic look that sets ARRI images apart from traditional broadcast cameras.
