POSTCARDING WITH RECLAIM OUR VOTE—AN EASY WAY TO GET INVOLVED Many Fellowshippers participate in the postcard opportunities that are provided by Reclaim Our Vote. Below is part of their mission statement, taken directly from their website.
“Reclaim Our Vote is a campaign of the Center for Common Ground, a non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization. The mission of the Reclaim Our Vote campaign is to empower under-represented voters to fully participate in elections…”
The UUFH has been helping ROV by writing postcards to under-represented folks in vulnerable states since the spring of 2020, before the presidential election. Currently we are sending postcards to people in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina, urging them to vote in their upcoming primaries. Most “Postcarders” find it to be fun and fulfilling and it did help Get Out the Vote back in the 2020 election.
If you would like to learn more about postcarding, please be in touch with me and I will send you some videos showing you how it’s done.

INVITATION TO JOIN OUR UUFH CHOIR The UUFH Choir hopes you are enjoying the choral videos we have been presenting over the past two years as part of our Sunday services. We are inviting any interested singers at UUFH to join us! Singers record their individual vocal tracks, email them to me, and I then combine them into the choral videos. Right now we are rehearsing (jointly by Zoom and in-person) on Monday evenings at 7:30 pm every week or two, but would consider moving to Thursday evenings, if that works better for most participants. Help us enhance our music ministry! Interested singers of all levels can speak to a choir member or feel free to contact me directly at music@uufh.org. Warmly, Dr. Jie, Conductor |

SEE DOCUMENTARY FILM, HIDDEN COLORS MARCH 25 The Social Justice Ministry invites you to join us on March 25 at 7 pm on Zoom to see the documentary “Hidden Colors: The Untold History of People of Aboriginal, Moor, and African Descent,” directed by Tarig Nasheed with a discussion facilitated by Professor Norman Daniels.
As part of a series of films to bring information, ideas, and open dialog to our congregation and to the greater community, we present this documentary about the real and untold history of people of color around the globe. This film presents much new information and some of the reasons the contributions of African and Aboriginal people have been left out of the pages of history. Traveling around the country, the film features scholars, historians, and social commentators who uncover amazing facts and present scholarship rarely heard in the mainstream.
Save the date for the film “Hidden Colors 2” on April 29 at 7 pm. |

STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE SOUL PLEDGE DRIVE UPDATE The Board and the Stewardship Committee send a hearty thank you to all members and friends who have made pledges to Strengthen Our UU Lives. So far, 85 pledges have been received, for a total of $222,571. For those who have not yet submitted a pledge, please consider doing so as soon as possible so that the Board can create a realistic budget for this fiscal year.
Our pledges enable UUFH to contract with our talented and inspiring new minister, Rev. Dr. Debra Haffner, and will be a key resource in attracting applicants for an interim minister in the future. They also provide the foundation of our budget for services, RE programs, building maintenance and other essential expenditures.
Our supportive members and friends are our true wealth, our “pot of gold,” for our inclusive, “rainbow” congregation. We count our lucky stars to have your friendship and generous support.
For those who have not yet pledged and plan to do so, please follow through as soon as you are able. All of our UU eyes will be smiling and you’ll steal our hearts away! Pledges can be made online via email, on the UUFH website or by US Mail. Contact Sue McGovern with any questions or concerns. |

MARCH 2022 SPLIT PLATE–REVISED UUSC Emergency Relief Fund: Ukraine Response An excerpt from UUSC’s president Rev. Mary Katherine Morn’s statement about the war in Ukraine: “UUSC is a human rights organization with more than 80 years of work in solidarity with people who have experienced displacement. We know that a further escalation of war in Ukraine will only worsen the global refugee crisis in which more than 80 million people worldwide have already been displaced from their homes. Ukraine is currently home to more than a million asylum-seekers and internally displaced people, many of whom could now be forced to flee for a second time as a result of Putin’s incursion.” |
