February 2022: Study Abroad Updates
Dear Partners and Colleagues,

Last Friday, the Syracuse University Chancellor shared a statement about the distressing events in Ukraine and the potential impact even on our the own university community. These events have only underscored the importance of our work as international educators. We send students to live and study in other countries, to learn new languages, to engage with cultures, to challenge their beliefs and assumptions about the world, and to build empathy. Student mobility is an integral tool in our toolbox and we use it to encourage ourselves, and others, to explore with an open mind and learn more about our world.

While there are pertinent updates in this newsletter, we also invite our international education colleagues to take pause on this Study Abroad Day and be reminded of our 'why' for working in international education. There is comfort knowing we are working together to leave the world in better shape than we found it.

Take care of yourselves, and all our best from Syracuse University.

Warmly,
Brock

Fall 2022 Enrollment Updates
The fall 2022 Florence Program has reached capacity and we have started offering students the option to join the waitlist. There are a few spots left in the Florence Studio Arts program.

Other programs have varying capacity remaining. Applications continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis and students are encouraged to complete applications as soon as possible.
Hiring: Program Director in Strasbourg, France
After 22 years, our wonderful Program Director in Strasbourg, Dr. Raymond Bach, will be retiring. We are now seeking the next dynamic, experienced, and innovative leader to direct our Syracuse University study abroad Center in Strasbourg, France. The positions begins in August 2022.
See below for the position description and please share widely with your networks.
Established in 1974, the Center is located in a beautiful early-20th century villa, which looks out onto the river Ill. It contains staff offices, classrooms, a library, a computer room, and a small garden. Syracuse University owns the property which enables it to invest in state-of-the-art classroom and other facilities.
