Cut Copy Paste
Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C.
February 4 – March 23, 2022

Cut Copy Paste, guest curated by Hannah Shambroom of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, features multidisciplinary works by contemporary Korean artists Soon Yul Kang and Suhyeon Kim, who employ repetitive, manual techniques to create contemplative paper collages, wax sculptures, and perforated canvases. Showcasing 31 pieces in total, this exhibition shines a spotlight on the artists’ physical materials and processes as a means of exploring more abstract, implied themes of mindfulness, harmony, and loss. Hanbok Wave
Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C.
February 22 – March 25, 2022

This special exhibition looks at the surprising synergy of traditional Korean clothing and the worlds of pop culture, art, technology, and high fashion. Hanbok has undergone a revitalization in recent years as designers push creative boundaries and pop stars embrace tradition-inspired designs. Experience how these two art forms inform, influence, and enhance one another in this special exhibition of contemporary hanbok designs co-organized with the Korea Craft & Arts Design Foundation.

Embassy Adoption Program
December 2021 - May 2022

In 2021-22, the KCCDC is working with two classes of fifth graders at Turner Elementary School located in Southeast DC as part of the Embassy Adoption Program, a partnership of DC Public Schools, Washington Performing Arts, and local embassies and cultural centers. Monthly visits include an introduction to Korean history, art, and culture, craft workshops, Taekwondo lessons, language lessons, and more.

Spring 2022: Korean Language & Culture Classes
Classes Starting Feb. 7-12, 2022

Registration is now open for Spring 2022 Korean language & culture classes from the King Sejong Institute Washington, D.C.! All classes remain online/remote for now, but we've added a new special topic course at the intermediate level, in addition to all the regular sequence courses and an Advanced option. Find complete details, status updates, and self-placement reading samples on our website, or see the basic schedule below. There is also no location restriction for online courses, so feel free to share the news!

OnStage Korea 2022-2023 Season Open Call
Application Deadline EXTENDED to February 20, 2022!

The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. is seeking to give brilliant, original artists and performance groups the opportunity to perform for the American public through an open call for the OnStage Korea 2022-2023 Season. Presented at venues across the Washington, D.C. region, OnStage Korea fosters cultural exchange and understanding while enhancing the visibility of Korean performing arts and artists in America.
