A happy and most blessed Thanksgiving to you. I trust this week has been filled with blessings for you. I know many have been able to be with family as we also reach out with love to the many who have no family to celebrate with. This is one of the greatest blessings that come with belonging to a church family like First Baptist.

While in England, Karyn and I met a couple who told us it was the Life Group they joined in their new church that really drew them into a wonderful circle of friends. I hope you can say the same and, if not yet, let me encourage you this season to join in and become part of a wonderful circle of “2:00 AM” friends.

In many ways Thanksgiving is the time of the year when we are best reminded of those things we are really thankful for. Yes-- family, friends, a most beautiful America, food on our tables, our men and women in uniform, and those things in our constitution we truly value. Many of these freedoms are being threatened today. What we need most is a God sent revival to sweep across our land.

We are beginning a wonderful time of celebration and giving. As we begin the Christmas season we are called to re-evaluate, re-think and recommit ourselves to reach our world for Christ. One of the ways we collectively support missions at home and around the world is through the Lottie Moon offering. Together with nearly 50,000 Southern Baptist Churches, we give so that missionaries can serve the Lord around the world. First Baptist has always been a major leader in giving our portion to this offering which is always over and above our tithes and offerings to the church- our first priority of giving according to the Bible.

Let’s do this and let’s give to Lottie!!

Needless to say I cannot wait to see you all Sunday with your Bibles in hand. It promises to be a fantastic day of worship so bring yourself, your family and make a special point of inviting friends to come with you.

Your friend and pastor,
November Prayer Focus
Please continue to be much in prayer for all of our Workers who are serving so faithfully right here in Spartanburg, our nation, and around the world, and many of them may be far from their loved ones and friends as we go into the holiday season. Please join us in praying for Overflow, our Thanksgiving outreach to the community. Ask the Lord to provide the resources needed to provide food for a Thanksgiving meal to those we have the opportunity to bless with all the Lord provides. Pray that the Lord would give volunteers opportunities and boldness in sharing the Gospel with each family who comes, and for hearts to be ready to accept Jesus into their hearts!
The Bridge is a great place to volunteer!

It is Thanksgiving week and we are very grateful for the continued faithful stewardship of so many to First Baptist Spartanburg. Above this, we are thankful to the Lord for His daily goodness and faithfulness to us. Psalm 107:1 says, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!” As you give your tithes and offerings, remember to give out of a thankful heart to the Lord for His unfailing love.
While there are many ways to financially support First Baptist, here are a couple of options we want you to be aware of:
·         As we prepare for the relaunch of Vision 2020 did you know that you can make gifts now to the building fund? As you give each month, would you consider making an extra gift above your tithe to prepare for the relaunch of Vision 2020?
·         Is your will in order? This may be a good time to review your will to make sure your family is taken care of and also consider how you can bless First Baptist by establishing a legacy gift through your estate. Visit to learn more about how our partner, Philanthrocorp, can confidentially help you plan through this process at no cost to you.

As we enter into holiday season, it’s important to remember to be thankful for all the things God gives us! This month, preschoolers will learn stories from the Bible that show all kinds of ways God takes care of his people and how grateful those people were. We’ll also learn about all the ways that we can be grateful, too!
