Professor Carey has served as Vice Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Law since 2018. She started at UNM Law in 2009 as an assistant professor, eventually becoming the Karelitz Chair of Evidence and Procedure. More than $500,000 has been set aside for outdoor classroom construction for the Las Cruces Public School District. The funding comes as a byproduct of the work the Wild Friends Program has done with Robbi Berry, a fifth-grade teacher at Monte Vista Elementary School. Wild Friends gives young students the chance to help draft legislative documents on wildlife-based issues. This year, Berry's class testified at the state senate in support of outdoor classrooms. The school has received $10,000 and will have their first classroom built in the Fall of 2022. According to the Las Cruces Sun News, there are 11 other classes working with Wild Friends on similar projects.

Congratulations to 3Ls Nicholas Corbitt, Lauren Hund, and Clay Wilwol for receiving this year's Senior Lawyers Division Attorney Memorial Scholarships. The SLD of the State Bar of New Mexico awards these scholarships to 3Ls who submit outstanding essays. This year's topic was "Post Election Litigation: Its Impact on the Profession." The scholarship recipients were recognized at a ceremony on November 16 that also recognized attorneys who passed away November 2020-2021. Thank you SLD for providing an opportunity for students to creatively express themselves and be rewarded for their writing abilities and for modeling one of the greatest actions a thoughtful community engages in—honoring those who have gone before them.

Thank you, Rod Schoen!
Texas Tech School of Law Thornton Professor Emeritus Rod Schoen graduated from the UNM School of Law in 1966. Licensed for 55 years and serving Lubbock, TX , he also taught Constitutional Law, Torts, and Civil Rights Law from 1971 through 1999. Professor Schoen has generously supported his law school for over 49 years. Through the years he has supported special projects like the Bratton Hall Expansion, but for the most part the bulk of his support has been directed to the Annual Fund-Unrestricted.
