March 29, 2022

Dear Alief Staff Members,

Well, believe it or not, April will be here in a couple of days and we all know what that means…spring weather, wind, pollen, allergies, baseball, softball, soccer and yes, state-mandated testing.

This year, April also means a bit of good news for the Alief team. As a result of your participation in the March 2022 Primary Elections, the month of April will be Jeans Month. I sincerely want to thank those of you who took the time to learn more about the candidates from either party and participate in the electoral process during the recent March primaries.

Judging from the response to the social media challenge about posting pics with the “I Voted” stickers, our staff exceeded the goal of the challenge. Thank you all for taking the time to learn about each candidate and their positions on critical issues like education.

As promised in prior communications, as a result of the participation in the March primaries, Alief ISD employees will be allowed to wear jeans the entire month of April. No, this is not a cruel April Fools’ Day joke. Beginning April 1 you may wear jeans the entire month of April.

There are still a few races that were not settled during the March 1 election and now require a run-off election. Once those elections are completed in May, everyone will need to turn their attention to the November 8, 2022 general election. I will share much more about the candidates and issues as early voting approaches.

Enjoy your month of wearing jeans and a heart-felt thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our students and this community.
