San Mateo County Updates
How to Verify Vaccine Status
At your first vaccination appointment, you should have received a vaccination card or print out that tells you what COVID-19 vaccine you received, the date you received it, and where you received it. Bring this card to your second vaccine appointment if your regime requires a second dose).

Regardless of where residents received the vaccine, they may request a digital record at the state’s My Vaccine Record portal.
Vaccine Boosters and Third Shots
As federal and state authorities approve new vaccination protocols for immunocompromised patients, County Health recommends immunocompromised residents consult with their health care provider about additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Boosters are not administered at community-based vaccine clinics at this time.

The County will remobilize mass vaccination capacity in the coming weeks as eligibility expands for third doses beginning September 20.
Make a Plan, Build a Kit During Preparedness Month
National Preparedness Month is an observance each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies.

The 2021 theme is “Prepare to Protect. Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love.” San Mateo County emergency managers encourage all residents to make a plan for before, during and after a disaster and to build a disaster supplies kit with items that will last for several days for everyone living in their home. Emergency officials also advise San Mateo County residents to sign up for SMC Alert, an emergency notification system, as well as memorize their zone code via Zonehaven in the event of an evacuation.
Storing and Treating Water

Storing drinking water is a critical part of being prepared for an emergency. Learn more about how much you should have, how to store it, and how to treat water if you need more.
Experts say there is more than a 60 percent chance that a major earthquake will occur in the Bay Area within the next 30 years. After such an event, your water supply might be unavailable for 72 hours or more. This is why it is critically important to be prepared with an emergency water supply to ensure that you and your family have drinking water even in the event of a disaster.

How Much Water Do I Need in My Emergency Water Supply?

  • Each family member needs one gallon of water per day, and this estimate includes drinking water as well as water for limited cooking and personal hygiene.

  • Don't forget your pets! They also need up to one gallon of water per day.

  • It is recommended to store enough water to last for 3-5 days. For example, a family of 4 with one pet dog should have 15-25 gallons of emergency water.
