WAM General Operating Support grant

The Self-directed Art Practice (SAP) grant provides one-time grants of $3,000 to $5,000 to pay for costs associated with taking timeup to 4 weeksto practice art.


Apply by January 31, 2023.

The General Operating Support grant provides up to $75,000 to organizations that offer arts programs to military connected individuals and communities.

Grants to Organizations (GTO) is opening three grant applications on February 1. These programs are open to small to midsize organizations that provide public art programs for the people of Washington State.

February 1: FY24 Creative Project Grant opens. This funding supports art projects. Organizations do not need to have an arts-focused mission to apply.

February 1: FY24-FY25 General Operating Support: Sustaining grant opens. This two-year funding supports day-to-day costs for arts organizations with at least three years of programming history.

February 1: FY24 General Operating Support: Emerging grant opens. This funding supports day-to-day costs for arts organizations formed 1 - 3 years ago.

ArtsWA's early learning program Creative Start will open a grant on March 15.

March 15

March 15: Creative Start Project Grant opens. This grant supports projects that engage preschool to 3rd grade students in arts integrated learning.

Center for Washington Cultural Traditions receives NEA grant


The Center for Washington Cultural Traditions (CWCT) received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to archive materials from the ArtsWA Folk Arts Program and the State Parks Department Folk and Traditional Arts Program.


This project will preserve and showcase decades of materials documenting Washington traditional arts.

Poetry Out Loud 2023 Regional Finals


Students who are the top scorers at their School Final Competitions, and participants in POL Virtual, will gather at five Regional Final Competitions to determine which students will advance to the State Final Competition in Tacoma, on March 11, 2023.


Over 12,000 students from 38 Washington schools will participate.

Arbitrary Borders brings together 35 paintings and sculptures by 19 artists of color at the Western Washington University (WWU) Art Gallery. The new collection concentrates on Black, Indigenous/First Nations, and Latinx artists.
