Staff Spotlight

Please help us welcome our newest staff member: Kennedy Cooper! Kennedy Cooper is the newest member of the Community Engagement Management team.

Prior to joining GSCV Kennedy was a Patient Service Representative for Bon Secours Mercy Health. She attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She graduated May 2022, majoring in Health Systems Management. When she is not in the office she loves to read books – romance and thriller novels being her favorite genres. Kennedy considers herself a foodie and loves trying new restaurants. If she is not at a new restaurant or reading a book you can find her outdoors spending time with her dog. Kennedy was a Girl Scout with the Central and Southern New Jersey Council for four years and the Girl Scouts of Coastal Pines for 2 years.

We are so excited to have Kennedy join our team. Join us in welcoming Kennedy to GSCV!

WOW - Wonders of Water | July 24th - 29th

This is a wild and wonderful water-themed camp. Campers will be on the water in our canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards, in the water with an early morning polar plunge, and in our beautiful pool, including a pool-side breakfast. Campers will even learn to paint with water during arts and crafts time. This camp is perfect for the girl who loves all things water and wants to learn more about the water around us. It is going to be a wet and wild adventure. On WOW Wednesday, campers will have the opportunity to design and build a boat for the second annual cardboard boat races.

This session will be fun no doubt, but if you are a looking for a different kind of adventure, we have a session for you. Check out the 2022 Camp Book for all that camp has to offer you.

GSUSA Scholarship Recipient

Congratulations to Alishia R., Gold Award Girl Scout from Chester, Virginia. Alishia is the recipient of the GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic Alishia was impacted by the suicide of someone she knew, which inspired her to do her Gold Award on the topic of mental health for teenagers. In partnership with her school and various mental health providers she created a series of videos titled ‘"Real Talk - A Mental Health Awareness Q & A". These videos were shown to the students at her high school and the impact was measured. Her videos were a great success and are currently available to all students in her county. Congratulations Alisha!

We are already planning for 2023 Girl Scout Cookie Program. The theme is Go Bright Ahead and the mascot is a Dolphin. Please encourage the Girl Scout in your family to take a few minutes to respond to the reward survey below.

Kick-off is just around the corner! We will be hosting two virtual evening sessions with topics selected from volunteer feedback. The format of the two virtual events will be structured and fast paced, with each evening covering different topics. Agendas coming soon. We will also be hosting an in-person event for the second consecutive year at Camp Pamunkey Ridge. The in-person event will have a free flowing approach where volunteers will be able to select what they want to do and learn about, while also enjoying all the wonderful things Pamunkey Ridge has to offer.

Girl Scout Night at the Kickers

EXCITING UPDATE: The Kickers will be holding post-match fireworks!

The Richmond Kickers are hosting Girl Scout Night this summer on Saturday, July 2nd! Girl Scout troops and families will be able to purchase discounted tickets to the game. The match starts at 7:00 p.m. with a pre-match parade around the pitch set for 5:30 p.m. Fireworks will be set off after the match! Girl Scout Patches can be purchased with your ticket.
