LET'S GO BIRD WATCHING
YALE UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 @ 1:30-2:45
We’ve scheduled another presentation in the Yale Gallery series. These are the programs that focus on a few works of art in some detail, and get you involved online and at your desk with paper and pencil.

Let’s go bird watching! Take a close look at how artists from around the world have used different artistic styles to depict birds and their environments. Founded in 1832, the Yale University Art Gallery is the oldest university art museum in America. Today, it is a center for teaching, learning, and scholarship and is a preeminent cultural asset for Yale University, the wider academic community, and the public.

Click here to request an invitation. This presentation will be in the form of a Zoom meeting with limited attendance, so please sign up early. You will receive your invitation by Thursday, September 2, before 3:00 p.m. If we are oversubscribed, you will be notified as soon as that determination is made.

MOVIE MAVENS
OUTSIDE IN
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 @ 2:00-3:00

The Movie Maven film choice for September is Outside In, a small independent film “that captures the raw conflict of life with great honesty.” Written by Lynn Shelton and starring Jay Duplass, the film portrays an ex-con struggling to readjust to life in his small town as he forms an intense bond with his former high school teacher
.
From the critics: “This is the kind of mature, confident and gimmick-free material that rarely makes it into cinemas much these days.” Shelton “is back with an engrossing drama about love and circumstance, and there isn't a false note from start to finish.”

The film is available on Netflix and Amazon Prime—and boasts a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

After watching the film on our own, we will gather together on Zoom on Friday afternoon September 17 at 2:00pm to discuss. Please click here by Thursday September 16 to receive a link by that afternoon.
