Snow Days and other memories
In 2014-15, DCSD made an error in calculating the instructional minutes for the school year and had to refund roughly $4.2M to CDE. DCSD appealed and lost because the 1963 Colorado attendance law is precise. Each year, STEM is audited to ensure compliance that our instructional minutes are met. Our academic calendar builds in some extra days that can be used for any unplanned emergency that would result in students not being able to receive instruction. Since the penalties are great, the cushion is necessary for any potential errors in calculationsClick here to read more
