Welcome Will “Hutch” Hutchisson

Will Hutchisson, known to most as “Hutch,” is joining the Chanco family as the new Director of Programs and we are thrilled!

“I’ve had the opportunity to work within the Episcopal ministry the past four years and am incredibly honored to be able to continue my professional career at Chanco,” said Hutch.

Hutch grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and is a recent graduate of the College of Charleston, where he majored in International Business and minored in Spanish and Sustainability. Hutch shared, “When I think about what was most formative about my college years, the answer is undeniably camp. My camp roots began forming when I was eleven. Over the years, I never took for granted what it meant to be a part of the types of communities that camp forms. After spending the past four summers helping to lead and build community at Camp Kanuga, I’m excited to become a part of Chanco. The love and joy experienced at camp is unlike any other, and to have the opportunity to serve on a staff that facilitates such experiences is incredibly exciting.”

Hutch grew up an Episcopalian. “I’ve always felt that serving at camp — and within a conference center — meant being a part of something bigger than yourself. Although I’m excited to work with the year-round staff and hit the ground running, I’m even more eager to meet the extended Chanco family. I’ve heard so much about the spirit of Chanco and can’t wait to experience it fully through meeting former and future members of this special place,” said Hutch.

Hutch does not like to be cooped up inside all the time and he will always take the opportunity to be outside and do something active. Growing up, he played soccer, and it’s still a sport he’s passionate about, but he also enjoys playing golf and ultimate frisbee. Otherwise, you’ll likely find him playing guitar or looking for something new to cook.

Chanco is excited for Hutch to join us and we all look forward to many experiences and connections our community will bring together.
