April 2022
Living Healthier, Happier & Longer
Enzo Trapani, MD.
Opening Reception: April 2, 2022: 4-7pm
Artist Talk: 6pm
We all understand that the color blue is considered calming. Reds, oranges, and yellows evoke stimulating responses. It’s also scientifically accepted that the arts have a therapeutic effect. Enzo Trapani, MD, renowned artist, and neurologist has taken these basic concepts much further. Many years of research in psychology, medicine, nutrition, quantum physics, and spirituality have led him to establish what he calls “Enzology.” Trapani’s exhibition will show and explain how color, art, and the environment combine to both promote and restore physical and mental health.
Greetings to Our Hub on Canal Supporters,

Winter, such as it is around here, came to an end last month. The Hub heralded Spring's arrival with our annual Spring Sale. This is our once-a-year-artists-clean-out-your-studios event. Our guests get bargains on fine art, and our artists get to follow the meaning of the season and prepare for a season of renewal (can you hear Vivaldi as you read this?). The Hub had a great Spring Sale, and we have to thank you for that. Our artists very much appreciate the support and your enthusiasm for their work.
As we look forward, I want to draw your attention to two timely events. The first is the Razzle Dazzle Fashion Show. This year's show takes place on Sunday, May 15, from 4-6pm at the Brannon Center. Most of you likely know that the fashion show is the culminating event of our most ambitious Outreach program, the Razzle Dazzle Fashion Club. The middle and high school designers--we call them Fashionistas--have spent the school year meeting dozens and dozens of hours to learn to design, create, sew and consider the marketing of their incredible designs. At least as important, they've learned life lessons that will help guide them throughout their lives. On May 15, we present a New York style fashion show with both student and professional models wearing the Fashionista's creations.
This is the fourth year of the program and the first time since May 2019 that Covid didn't materially impair the fashion show. We're anxious to recapture the magic of that initial event. We hope you'll join us on May 15 to support these talented and dedicated young people. You'll find a link to ticket purchase and sponsorship information nearby.
If Razzle Dazzle signals the end of the school year, our promotion of The Hub's Summer Camps means we must be close to the time when parents must manage the transition to having the kids home. The Hub can help you keep your youngsters engaged in June and July. We have several first-time offerings that are certain to have the kids dragging you out the door each morning rather than the other way around. Don't wait too long to make your selections, as space is limited. There's a link to our roster of camps down the page a bit. Your kids--or grandkids--will thank you for it.

Art in the Form of Film:
Loving Vincent (2017)
Friday, April 15, 5:45-9pm
Back by popular demand, Loving Vincent was originally featured at The Hub in July 2017. If you’ve seen it before, you’re not surprised, and if you haven’t, do not miss this visually dazzling film. Employing extraordinary digital animation techniques, the film replicates Van Gogh’s unique painting style. Its narrative seeks to understand why a man of such brilliance would commit suicide. (more)

Few Hub artists create beautiful work along with a wider range of mediums and styles than Jules Silver. Jules works in both 2-D and 3D with many pieces being classified as mixed media. Jules' work, Jackson Pollock in 3D (aka Springs 'n Things) is such a piece. Jackson Pollock in 3D recently received the William & Delores Erdman Memorial Award at the Artist Award show at The Artist's Workshop. Come by The Hub and see a wide range of Jules' work. Congratulations Jules.
