Welcome Lindsay Lennon, SDS Communications and Events Manager We are pleased to announce the addition of Lindsay Lennon to the SDS team. She started this week and will take over communications, marketing for the School and academic programs as well as coordinating special events like the Women in Data Science and Analytics Frontiers conferences this spring. Prior to coming to UNC Charlotte Lindsay was a Program Manager for the Yale School of Management. She holds a BA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship form Central Connecticut State University. |

Welcome Back to Carly Mahedy, SDS Director of Student Services Carly Mahedy returned from maternity leave (Welcome to the world Fletcher Mahedy!) last week. We are excited to have her back supporting the SDS undergraduate and graduate programs!
Appreciation for Brenda Bradrick, Interim Adviser Sincere thanks to Brenda Bradrick who stepped in while Carly was out of the office. Those of you who have had the opportunity to work with Brenda know that she brings a level of professionalism and commitment to her work that is not easily matched. She has been a tireless advocate for our students and the School. On behalf of the School we extend our heartfelt appreciation. Thank you Brenda! |

Group Advising Sessions: DSBA & HIA |

Spring Registration will begin on November 1. The School of Data Science will hold virtual advising sessions for Graduate students enrolled in the DSBA and HIAN programs on Monday, October 18th and 25th at 4:00 pm. Please attend one of the sessions. |

We will discuss the Spring course schedule, special topics courses, events, the registration process, and leave time for Q&A. |

We highly encourage our students to participate in the local community to embrace the dynamics of technology and entrepreneurship in Charlotte, the next technology hub of the East Coast. DegreeWorks Audit: On Track To Graduate? |
|
DegreeWorks is a web-based planning tool that provides an accurate display of required coursework and helps students monitor their progress towards graduation. Students can access their real-time audit in DegreeWorks via my.uncc.edu and should routinely check their progress towards degree completion.
For any required courses that are in the Fall Through or Not Counted sections of DegreeWorks submit an Academic Petition that requests the courses be counted towards your program requirements.
If you believe your audit contains errors or the requirements do not match the catalog, students should contact:
*If you began in the Certificate program and transferred to the Master’s program: Please review your DegreeWorks for both your certificate and master’s program and complete an application to graduate from both programs. |

SDS has three Boot Camps: Python, Statistics, and Introduction to R
All three of the current SDS boot camps (Python, Statistics, and Introduction to R) were reviewed this spring. Registration for the Fall Semester SDS Boot Camps is currently open. These training modules are open to all students actively enrolled in the DSBA or HIA programs. These online courses were created as a free resource for students.
