Moving Forward With Something New
Choice Partners hosted its first virtual vendor orientation on May 12. Four members of the CP team presented information relative to increasing the vendors' ability to utilize their awarded contracts and better reach Choice members and potential members.

The event was successful with almost 100 attendees, including a majority of the newly awarded vendors.

Choice has typically hosted in-person trainings at their Houston offices for vendors to meet CP staff and their contract managers. Although this vendor orientation was done virtually, it had all the same information focusing on educating vendors on best practices in working with members while being compliant with regulations and laws.

The ultimate goal of CP is to bring members and vendors together so that they can build long-lasting relationships. When a vendor is supported by their sponsor and strengthened with good tools, they can provide their best service to their customers. Either party may contact Choice to assist in the procurement process.

COVID-19 Needs
To assist our members in finding products and/or services they may need with regard to the COVID-19 virus, Choice Partners has updated our page highlighting vendors and their market areas with available products and services. Under "About Us" on our homepage, select COVID-19 to use as a reference guide.

Meet CP Staff
Laura Sprehe was recently promoted to Food Contract Manager after working for Choice Partners / HCDE for three years as a food contract coordinator.

Prior to CP, Laura worked for Aldine ISD as the dietitian for the child nutrition department for approximately four years. She will continue working with food contracts, managing contracts utilized by CP members food service departments.
A newcomer to Choice Partners, Steve Gibson is a contract manager providing support for various CP vendors. He has more than 15 years experience in purchasing and contract management and is an ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) since 2015.

Steve's background experience includes corporate legal services and civil construction in both private and public sector procurement.

To ensure governmental entities maximize - and keep - federal funds for COVID-19 purchases,
including CARES Act and
FEMA funding, they will
need to diligently fulfill and document all procurement and contracting requirements.
We expect additional guidance and regulations for CARES Act funding, but at a minimum, documentation of procurement activities and expenditures will be key! Special rules apply to cooperative purchases.

2020 - 2022 Catalog Available
Released April 1, the new supply catalog is available for download from the Choice website to get new pricing. The Choice Partners online supply catalog with 1100+ items in nine categories. Vendors are awarded a one year contract with one renewal and they can update pricing quarterly. Use your member login ID to access pdf catalog or shop online.
