Sign Up for Open Water Swim!
If you haven't joined an open water swim session, there's still time! Join us next weekend as we venture out of the pool and into open waters.

Make sure to sign up before registration closes on Friday, August 5 at 12pm. We can't wait to see you out there!
Dates: 
  • On Saturday, August 6 we will build on the skills and acclimation from our first session.
  • On Sunday, August 7 we will have a longer swim to help with stretching out and for those preparing for open water races.

Times: 
  • Meet at 9:45am
  • Swim at 10am 

Meeting location:
  • The covered area across the boardwalk from Volna Cafe at 3145 Brighton Fourth St., New York, NY
  • Directions via subway: Q train to Brighton Beach

What to bring:
  • Bright-colored caps, mirrored goggles, sunscreen, Vaseline and/or Body Glide®, water bottle, towel, and swimsuit
  • A wetsuit or neoprene shorts are optional

Annual Pool Maintenance

Asphalt Green is committed to providing you top-notch facilities, which means draining our pools for annual maintenance. The pools at both of our campuses will close on Saturday, August 20 and will reopen on Tuesday, September 6.
Fall Practice Schedule

Swim Workout

Here’s a special workout from Coach Ata. Please note, these intervals are in short course yards, but feel free to adjust as necessary.

  • Warmup
  • Choice of swim stroke for 10 minutes

  • Pre-set (Set yards: 600)
  • 4 x 75 as 50 swim / 25 kick at 1:15 / 1:20
  • 4 x 50 IM order drill / swim at 1:00
  • 100 build freestyle

  • Main set (Set yards: 2,150)
  • 6 x 125 IM at 2:00
  • Freestyle stroke — twice
  • 4 x 25 underwater kicks at 0:40
  • 4 x 125 IM at 2:00
  • Backstroke — twice
  • 4 x 25 at 0:30
  • Even strokes — easy
  • Odd strokes — fast
  • 3 x 100 IM (descend at strokes 1 - 3) at 1:40 / 1:50
  • 4 x 25 fast at 0:30
  • 300 cooldown swim
