From The Home & School Club President's Desk
One and done. This mantra guides the Blossom Hill Home & School Club fundraising efforts and our partnership with LGEF through the One Community Campaign. Historically, Blossom Hill families have participated at a high level in our fall fundraising drive, covering most of our costs for the year without needing additional major fundraisers in the winter and spring.  We need your participation today.

Many wonder why the Home & School Club partners with LGEF to raise money through the One Community Campaign. For several years, the H&SC and LGEF have jointly funded many of the programs that mean the most to our students. For these programs, the H&SC pays for supplies while LGEF pays for the staff. In music, the H&SC pays for instruments and LGEF pays for the teacher. Similarly, in art, the H&SC pays for art supplies while LGEF pays for our art teacher, Mrs. Anderson. And the pattern continues through many other programs. This partnership also aligns our organizations more closely to support the district’s strategic plan.

At the Home & School Club General Member Meeting this morning, parents voted to approve our annual operating budget of $187,005. Nearly 95% of the budget is used to pay for teacher and student supplies, workbooks, pencils, paper, software licenses, instruments, instructional kits, copier and printer costs, campus safety equipment, assemblies, student activities and more. These books, tools, programs and supplies are the basic tools our staff and students access in their classrooms.

Our fantastic parents have donated almost $82,000 towards the H&SC through the One Community Campaign so far. Please be sure to donate to the H&SC and LGEF through One Community before the fall drive ends on October 1st. The first $350 of your donation goes to the Home & School Club. The rest of your donation goes to fund salaries for Blossom Hill teachers who lead our PE, Library, Art and Counseling programs. All of your donation goes directly to our school. And with your support, our community thrives.

Melissa Crow
Blossom Hill Home & School Club President

To date, Blossom Hill families have contributed $81,670 to the Blossom Hill Home & School Club - funding school supplies, the principal’s site fund, technology, STEAM programs and supplies, student enrichment, and community building events. Our families have also contributed $206,644.31 to LGEF - funding counselors as well as art, music, library and PE teachers at Blossom Hill.  47% of Blossom Hill families have already participated in the One Community LG Campaign.

If you have not yet contributed, please consider contributing at any level before our campaign ends on October 1st.  All contributions are welcomed and appreciated as our goal is 100% parent participation.  You can pledge now if you wish to defer your contribution to a later date, or choose a monthly payment plan.  Also, many companies will match your contribution.  Double the Match lists companies that generously offer matching programs.

*Please note:  If you contributed to One Community LG directly through your employer, we have not received that information yet as there is a delay in their processing of up to 60 days.  If your name is not on our list of donors, please complete the Payroll Deduction Form so that we know to expect your contribution and can properly thank you.
Did you know that One Community LG, through the LGEF, funds our elementary library teachers, including Blossom Hill Elementary’s Amy Grespan?  Mrs. Grespan provides individualized reading suggestions to students and is also a great storyteller. Every classroom attends library once a week to listen to a story. Librarians inspire and encourage our student’s interest in children’s literature, nourishing a life-long love of reading. Our school libraries touch every child and are an essential part of the educational experience.  Ask your child to tell you about the story Mrs. Grespan read to them this week. To find out more about what your contributions to One Community LG will benefit, please visit onecommunitylg.org.
Mrs. Grespan takes advantage of outdoor spaces to read to enthralled fifth graders.
Borrow a Chromebook or a Wi-Fi Hotspot
Do you have a student who needs access to a Chromebook or W-Fi at home? LGUSD has a limited number of Chromebooks and Wi-Fi hotspots available to loan for students who would otherwise lack connected devices and/or broadband connections sufficient to fully engage in learning at home. We want to ensure access is available, especially if a student needs to quarantine at home. If you would like to request a Chromebook or Wi-Fi hotspot, please complete the loaner request form.
Fun Fridays are Back!
Fun Fridays are back! Sponsored by the Home & School Club, and supported by your One Community LG donations, Fun Fridays provides games, crafts, art and other activities for students during the lunch recess. We are currently looking for parents to staff Fun Fridays on select weeks between now and the Thanksgiving holiday. Please sign up for a specific week here. Please contact Amy Gregor at [email protected] with any questions.
Bike Rodeos for 3rd and 4th Grades
Los Gatos -Monte Sereno Safe Routes to School will be hosting Bike Rodeos at each school site at the end of September. Bike Rodeos teach students important safety skills on a bike including rules of the road, signaling, and how to wear a helmet properly. Blossom Hill will be hosting bike rodeos for third graders on Friday, September 24 and fourth graders on Tuesday, September 28. All third and fourth graders should bring their helmets and bikes to school on their designated day. For safety purposes, only students who have helmets will be permitted to ride their bikes in the activities. Students who do not have bikes will still be included in the Bike Rodeo. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or email [email protected].

Measure B on November 2nd Ballot
Quality schools are at the heart of our town. For over 30 years Los Gatos and Monte Sereno students have relied on locally controlled funding. But the funding level has not increased in 20 years...and the current measure is about to expire. If not renewed, our schools will lose $2.7 million in funding each year requiring deep cuts, including layoffs of teaching staff.

Measure B will renew school funding at $335 per parcel, providing approximately $3.2 million in annual funding for local elementary and middle schools. Measure B would expire in 8 years. To learn more about Measure B and its impact, visit www.lgusd.org/renewalmeasure.
Don't Forget - Fridays are BH Spirit Days!
We invite all students (and staff) to show their Blossom Hill spirit by wearing the favorite BH Spirit Wear each Friday. Don't have any Spirit Wear? Please visit our online store, Rokkitwear, for a great selection. Limited t-shirts and sweatshirts, as well as BH masks, will be on sale at (We accept credit cards, Apple Pay, and cash.)
Blossom Hill Vision Statement
