Onto the Jeopardy Semi-finals!

Hopefully you were watching the Jeopardy 2021 Professors Tournament on December 9 - you saw ARC History Professor Ed Hashima win big and move on to the semi-final round! You can watch the exciting Final Jeopardy question - 1950s public works! - on YouTube. Tune in to Jeopardy this Wednesday, December 15, for the next round of the tournament. The tournament was recorded in October, after Ed passed a rigorous entrance process this summer to be one of the 15 professors chosen. Ed enjoyed the tournament a lot, calling it “an experience of a lifetime” partly because he was able to spend time with outstanding colleagues across the country. He commented on being aware he was not only representing American River College on the show but community colleges throughout the US. Ed added that all of the professors in the tournament agreed that the competition was fun and the final Jeopardy questions were incredibly difficult!

Spring 2022 Enrollment Update

Priority enrollment for Spring 2022 classes is currently underway. Open enrollment begins Tuesday, December 21

As part of our continued district wide efforts to reduce financial and educational barriers for our neediest students, Los Rios is extending our adjustment to the standard auto-drop process for Spring 2022. Students who enroll from November 22 to December 21 will be subject to the only Spring 2022 auto-drop for non-payment on the morning of Wednesday, January 5. Students who enrolled on or after December 22 will not be subject to auto-drop.

As a reminder, students with unpaid fees could receive a balance due hold on their student account that prevents them from enrolling in future semesters until their balance due is below the established threshold. View Payment Deadlines.
Important deadline
Refund Request Deadline Approaches

The last day for students to submit a refund request to the Business Services Office for tuition or fees is Thursday, December 16. Please direct students to the refunds webpage for more information.

Note: Money in a student’s eServices account is not automatically refunded to them. If they have a credit balance in their eServices account and do not request a refund by the last day of instruction of the semester, then they forfeit that money.

Refunds are issued within six to eight weeks. If students paid by credit card, then a refund will be issued to the credit card they paid with. All other methods of payment will be refunded by check and mailed to the address on file with Admissions and Records.
Creating a Student-Ready Syllabus

A student-ready syllabus prioritizes students, human relationships, and instructor support of student success. The Center for Teaching and Learning is holding a session on Monday, December 13, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm designed for teaching faculty who are preparing for next semester. Participants will engage in a process of inquiry to assess and revise their syllabus for student-readiness. Register in advance for this workshop.
