Sociology Professor Wins Recognition
ARC Sociology professor Jeff Sacha has been awarded the Early Career Award for Innovation in Teaching Sociology by the Pacific Sociological Association, the Western regional professional association for the discipline of sociology. The award is designed to honor and encourage the work of junior faculty (those who typically have fewer than seven years of teaching experience). César Chávez Day

On Thursday, March 31 we celebrate and reflect on the life and legacy of César Chávez. Chávez made a lasting impact on America’s farmworkers through his work as a labor leader and civil rights activist. This holiday promotes community service in honor of Chávez's life and work. Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program Grant – Open Forum

ARC is partnering with Erickson Consulting to host an open forum on applying for a Title V (Hispanic Serving Institutions Program Grant). The forum will be held Tuesday, March 29, from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Theatre Professor Stars in The Children

ARC adjunct Theatre Arts professor Janis Stevens is co-starring in the Black Point Theatre production of The Children by Lucy Kirkwood, based on the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor disaster. The show runs through April 10 at the Wilkerson Theatre, 1723 25th Street in Sacramento. For tickets and more information visit blackpointtheatre.org. 
Los Rios Virtual Career Fair

All students are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 6 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for a Virtual Career Fair. Employers will host one-on-one appointments and group sessions via Handshake, Los Rios’ online job and internship platform, to discuss available jobs and internships. All Los Rios students and alumni are welcome. Please encourage students to register now and take advantage of great opportunities to meet with prospective employers.
Cal Grant Priority Deadline Extended!

The Cal Grant priority deadline of March 2 has been extended to April 1. Students should submit their 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) applications now! The Financial Aid office is ready to help students who need assistance. 
The Truth About Law School
All students are invited to “The Truth About Law School” on Monday, April 4, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm via Zoom with guest speaker and FLC alum Malina Dunk Walker. Malina is a third-year law student and Kennedy Scholar at McGeorge School of Law and she will be sharing her experiences, insights, and tips with students interested in the legal profession. “Law is a truly powerful and transformational profession but school is profoundly challenging, so I am happy to support interested students,” Malina shares. This session will be a presentation/discussion format followed by a Q&A session.
