Spring Break is Almost Here

  • Spring Recess is Monday, April 11 through Sunday, April 17. No classes will be held during this time.
  • College offices will be open Monday, April 11 through Thursday, April 14, but will be closed Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 17.

Students will still be able to enroll for summer classes online via eServices during this time. Enjoy your break!
Virtual Career Fair is Next Week

All Los Rios students and alumni are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 6 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for a virtual career fair! Employers will host one-on-one appointments and group sessions via Handshake, Los Rios’ online job and internship platform, to discuss available jobs and internships.

PTK All-California Award Winners
Congratulations to ARC's Brianna Huynh (1st team) and Cody Montoya (2nd team) for being named 2022 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-California Award Winners! Grades, leadership, and community service are all used to determine selection to the All-California teams. PTK and American River College recognize and celebrate the academic achievement of our students and continue to provide opportunities for growth as scholars and leaders. 
 
Students selected to the All-California team represent some of the best of the two million students enrolled in California's 116 community colleges. Like so many in our college and communities, there have been new and unprecedented challenges over the last two years. The 2022 winners including Brianna Huynh (1st team) and Cody Montoya (2nd team) should be exceptionally proud of their achievements during these difficult times. Again, congratulations! 🎉

April is Arab American Heritage Month

National Arab American Heritage Month is a time for celebrating the history, contributions, and culture of the diverse population of Arab Americans. This month recognizes the contributions of the 3.7 million members of the Arab community in the United States. In medicine, law, business, technology, civic engagement, government, and culture, Arab Americans have been, and continue to be, an invaluable part of the mosaic of American life.
Bridging Transfer Equity

All students are invited to a series of Zoom events focused on Bridging Transfer Equity. These sessions bring together our Los Rios, Sac State, and UC Davis resource centers to network and inform students of resources and opportunities within these communities. While these sessions are geared for specific communities, they are open to all students.

New Mental Health & Wellness Workshop Series
 
The Los Rios ​​Center for Mental Health and Wellness is offering a new series for all students on Zoom, “Making Friends with Your Feelings,” which will take place on Mondays this month, starting Monday, April 4, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. This will be a safe space for you to learn and discuss emotion in a practical, accessible way. All are welcome and, while this is not a therapy group, it may be a good way to explore emotional or mental health. Also, look for info on a Mindfulness Mini-Series coming soon.
Music Student Recitals

American River College's Music majors are performing their repertoire and showcasing their hard work! Recitals take place live on the ARC main campus in Music Room 512. Admission is free. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test is required.

Recitals will be held:

Online Student Exhibition at ARC Submission Deadline

ARC's Kaneko Gallery is now accepting submissions for the 2022 online student art exhibition competition. The deadline to submit entries is Friday, April 22 at 11:59 pm. Please visit the exhibition website for more information on how to submit!
2022 Cultural Celebrations for Graduates

If you are graduating this year and plan to participate in one of the Los Rios cultural graduation celebrations, make sure to register by the deadline!
 
API Scholars Rising celebrates and honors Los Rios graduates of East Asian, Pacific Islander, South Asian, and Southeast Asian descent. 
  • In-person Ceremony: Saturday, May 7 at 10:00 am at the Folsom Lake College Falcon Roost
  • Deadline to register to attend: Monday, April 25
 
The annual Celebration of Excellence & Achievement for Students of African Descent (COEA) recognizes students who are receiving degrees/certificates and/or transferring to four-year universities. 
  • Virtual Ceremony: Friday, May 13 at 6:30 pm
  • Deadline to register to attend: Thursday, April 7
 
The annual Latinx Recognition Ceremony, Honrando a Nuestros Estudiantes (Honoring Our Students), celebrates the accomplishments of students that have earned a certificate and/or degree in the current academic year, or are transferring to a four-year university.
  • In-person Ceremony: Thursday, May 19 at 6:00 pm at Sacramento City College Hughes Stadium
  • Deadline to register to attend: Thursday, April 7
 
The annual Lavender Celebration celebrates the accomplishments of LGBTQIA+ students graduating from Los Rios colleges.
