Students Part of NASA Program

Three ARC students have been accepted into the prestigious NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS). ARC's Stacey Burrows, Silvia Garcia, and Ryan Valtierra are among a select group of students from across the U.S. accepted for NCAS 2022 Mission 1, which is a five-week virtual learning experience through Canvas and Microsoft Teams that started October 27. Activities include online modules, live virtual discussions with NASA professionals, and a mission report on either habitation systems, resource utilization, or rover design. Students who earn passing grades from Mission 1 receive an invitation to NCAS 2022 Mission 2, which is a collaborative learning experience to take place in the Spring. Mission 3 will be held at a NASA base during Summer 2022.
Beaver Scholars
Giving Tuesday is November 30!

Thank you for all you do for our students. You give so much of yourselves daily to ensuring our students succeed and realize their dreams of higher education.

Every Los Rios student deserves an education that matches their ambition. With your help, finances don’t have to be a barrier for our students who dream of a brighter, healthier, and more just tomorrow for themselves, for our community, and for our world. At Los Rios, we want to ensure that education is accessible and affordable for all. To meet this goal, we have created the ARC Beaver Scholars scholarship. These scholarships are campus-focused programs created from funds that are pooled together into a general scholarship for deserving students.

Why contribute to the Scholars scholarship?
As you know, most of our students are low-income and eligible for less financial aid than students attending four-year institutions. Due to the high cost of living in the Sacramento region, most students work 20 to 40 hours per week to make ends meet. Scholarships allow students to take more units, work fewer hours, focus on school, and complete their goals in less time.
This Giving Tuesday we invite you to invest in the future of our students by making a gift to the Scholars scholarship. Through transformative scholarship student support, we can boost social mobility and educational equity, preparing a diverse group of students to make our world greater.

Mail a check, payable to Los Rios Colleges Foundation, to your campus Philanthropy Office and designate for ARC Beaver Scholars.

Ways to give:

Your gift to the Scholars scholarship helps us keep our promise to our students, equipping them to change their lives and the lives of others through their education. Thank you for your support!

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
