November 2021
Happy Fall. As the weather gets cooler and the kids get more restless I like to think about the upcoming breaks that we will have this month and next. I always try to remind teachers to take some time for self care during those precious days off. This year, I want to ask you to start planning for that time off. Mentors and Candidates, please take some time during one of your meetings to check in with each other and make sure that the other person is planning to take a break from the stress of work and truly rest and refill their emotional bucket. Take the time to ask "what will you be doing to take care of yourself" and push the subject. A friend did this for me at the end of last year and I couldn't answer the question. It was a big wake up call for me that what I was doing was unsustainable. I made some changes and I am now taking care of myself which makes me more able to take care of those around me. Teachers are caregivers and nurturers. Be sure to take a little time to take care of yourself and nurture your sole.

With gratitude,
Stacy and Jennifer
