Domestic violence is a life-threatening crime that affects millions of people across the nation. It is characterized by a pattern of power and control. Some of the subtle warning signs of an abusive relationship include the abuser is jealous and controlling; the abuser does not take responsibility for their actions and blames others for everything that goes wrong; the abuser criticizes partner's appearance and makes frequent put-downs; the abuser's words and actions don't match; the abuser uses tactics to conceal financial information, limit access to assets, reduce accessibility to finances, or exploit partner's economic resources.
