 | Help Make a Child's Dream Come True This Christmas
Many years ago, King William County citizens came together to start a program to assist parents in providing Christmas wishes for the children of King William County and the Town of West Point. A non-profit organization called King William Emergency Ministry Inc., provided the gifts that were delivered to families each Christmas season.
In 2010, they passed the torch on, and the Christmas Dreams program was born. With the assistance of the King William Department of Social Services, they were able to continue to provide for community children, including infants through the age of 18. With the help of donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and civic organizations, Christmas Dreams has been able to meet the needs of community children with gifts to supplement families’ Christmas. In 2021, they provided gifts for 346 children.
To learn more about the program and how you can help, visit their website.

 | Pets of the Week "Memphis" is a strapping male Pit Bull who is around 2 years old and weighs 65 lbs. He came to the Shelter after he was left at an abandoned home. He is a big lovebug that just wants all the attention and snuggles! Memphis doesn’t do the greatest with other males or cats but would likely do great with a female dog around his size! He is heartworm negative and started on monthly prevention. "Strawberry" is a gorgeous female Boxer/Pit Bull mix that's about 1 year old and weighs 65 lbs. She was surrendered to the Shelter because her owner lost their home. She is a calm and well-behaved girl that loves going for walks! She does great on the leash, knows how to sit, and loves to snuggle! She is heartworm negative and started on prevention. |

| | | Future of the King William Farmers Market
After two successful pilot events this summer, the King William Economic Development Authority (EDA) is looking for a citizens’ board to organize and operate the Farmers Market for the future. EDA members voted unanimously to turn the operation over to interested citizens and provide advice and guidance as necessary.
The citizens’ board would be responsible for deciding where and when the markets will be held; recruiting and securing vendors; publicizing the events; deciding on how to financially support the market; and the coordination setup, trash pickup, etc.
If you are interested in helping to keep the Farmers Market active in the central region of the County, send us an email.
We invite those who visited the pilot events or participated as a vendor to give us feedback, which we’ll share with the citizens’ board to help them along. |
