Transforming Futures:

The Power of Motivation in Unveiling Student Potential

Motivation and Inspiration are two of the most important concepts on which to focus when improving a child’s learning experience. Here at BRIEF, we have an intimate understanding of how much being motivated by others means to a child when they are taking on new challenges.

Take our student Joshua, for example. Joshua is a high school student who came to us knowing virtually nothing about computers. We taught him the basic skills of computer programming and gave him the motivation he needed to continue learning on his own. Joshua exceeded all expectations and performed like a champion; and in a very short period of time, he was even performing better than others who had been working with computers for much longer.

We realized that Joshua had a natural talent for computer programming, and all he needed was our guidance and motivation to discover it. A local professor came in to volunteer for BRIEF a few weeks later and noticed the work that Joshua had done with his computer skills. She was amazed and told us that Joshua should be able to go to college on a scholarship with the level of work he was producing. This story made us realize that sometimes it only takes one person spending time with a child to inspire that child and change the trajectory of the child’s life.

Giving a child access to a new experience can unlock a previously unknown talent and a passion for the future. Believing and trusting in our kids and what they can accomplish is so important to us, and it has truly shown us the impact that BRIEF and those who support it have made on the lives of those who are a part of it.
