"Walk My Walk," a country song about independence and defiance, topped Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart despite having middling organic momentum on streaming platforms. The song is currently nowhere to be found on updated daily streaming country charts on Spotify or Apple Music.

Here's the reality: because very few people actually buy digital songs anymore, it only takes a few thousand purchases to top the Country Digital Song Sales chart. This means charting can be manipulated. That's why we pay less attention to the charts and more attention to our

What Real Music Consumers Are Saying

YWhen veteran radio personality and station owner **Cyreio “Sy Man” Hughes** walked onto the campus of Mississippi Valley State University, he brought more than a résumé of accomplishments—he brought a living lesson in what Black radio truly represents: *community, opportunity, and legacy*.

He recounted his own beginnings at Jackson State University, where he spent countless hours inside the campus radio station—running the board, practicing his voice, soaking up every bit of knowledge he could. Those long nights weren’t just training; they were the foundation of a calling.

“I got my start by rolling up my sleeves,” Hughes told the students. “**You need to get started now. Hands-on experience will prepare you for your career.**”

But his message didn’t stop at professional development. Hughes spoke passionately about Black radio’s historic role as a cultural anchor—elevating local voices, empowering underserved communities, and creating opportunities where none existed. He emphasized that today’s students are stepping into a media landscape that desperately needs their perspectives, talent, and leadership.

Wayne Baker Brooks is considered one of today's top guitarists whose signature style combines powerful vocals with liquid fire guitar playing that honors his rich blues heritage yet effortlessly expands the boundaries of the genre. 

Born and raised in Chicago, IL amongst the most prolific blues legends and blues masters in the world, Wayne Baker Brook's blues roots may run deeper and wider than the Great Lakes themselves. 

Chicago Blues laid the foundation for Wayne's innovative style. Growing up Brooks was a regular visitor to such historic places as Chess Studios, Checkerboard Lounge, Wisefools, and many other blues landmarks at which he witnessed many live performances by blues masters like Buddy Guy, Jr. Wells, Luther Allison, KoKo Taylor, the great Muddy Waters, & his father. The youngest son of blues master Lonnie Brooks - Wayne Brooks was literally born into the blues! 

Leaving no way around the fate appointed him he soon joined his father's (Lonnie Brooks) band as his guitarist in 1999. And then in 1997, he formed the Wayne Baker Brooks Band which while continuing to work with his father's band he appeared in the film Blues Brothers 2000. 

With the release of his acclaimed debut CD "Mystery" "an album that brilliantly draws on blues, blues rock, soul, funk and beyond". "Mystery" received multiple awards and praise from the music world. 

Along with releasing his new release he was soon touring the world and featured on national TV programs (including CNN's "Showbiz"), Universal NBC Sports as well as ABC, NBC (NYE 2023 with Billy Corgan & Everclear) along with endless radio programs including performing for the First Lady at Chess Studios (Willie Dixon Blues Heaven Foundation) with Blues legends Bo Diddley, KoKo Taylor, Lonnie Brooks, and Billy Branch.

MediaCo Holding Inc. is making a major move by taking two of its most iconic New York radio stations, Hip Hop's HOT 97 and Urban AC's 107.5 WBLS, and broadcasting them in four new major markets: Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, and Riverside, CA.

Starting December 1st, listeners in these cities will get a 24/7 stream of the New York-based programming, including their famous music, celebrity interviews, and cultural content, all delivered over HD Radio subchannels. MediaCo's goal is to connect with multicultural audiences nationwide and bring the "East Coast energy" to the diverse creativity of Southern California and Texas.

📡 HD Radio Subchannels Explained in Simple Terms

Think of a standard FM radio station (like 107.5 FM) as a highway. Traditionally, that highway could only carry one main lane of audio, the original broadcast.

An HD Radio subchannel is like adding extra, smaller lanes of traffic (digital signals) to that same highway without needing a whole new frequency.

• The main signal is often called HD1 and is a digital version of the main station (107.5 FM), which offers clearer, CD-quality sound.
• The subchannels are called HD2, HD3, etc. These are new, separate radio channels that you can only hear if you have an HD Radio-equipped receiver (like those in most new cars).

In this case, MediaCo is using a Dot 2 subchannel (the HD2 channel) on existing stations it owns in those four new markets to simulcast the New York-based HOT 97 and WBLS programming.
