Notice Date: Monday, Nov. 3, 2025

What’s Happening

Starting on Wednesday Nov. 5 through Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, the contractor continues installing the new watermain along 7 Street between Alton Rd. and Jefferson Ct.

Project Overview

Fire Flow – Project 1 is a critical infrastructure upgrade designed to enhance the reliability and safety of the local water distribution system. The project includes upsizing existing water mains and installing new water connections to address areas that currently do not meet required fire flow standards.

Benefits

  • Improved fire protection and public safety
  • Increased system capacity and reliability
  • Upgraded water mains and connections (some of the existing lines are in place since the 1940s and 1950s)
  • Enhanced infrastructure to support future growth

Please be advised:

Parking spaces on the south side of 7 Street, between Jefferson Ct. and Alton Rd., will be temporarily unavailable due to ongoing infrastructure work. Parking will be prohibited and signage is posted accordingly. Please refer to the map above for the parking schedule.

These restrictions are necessary to facilitate essential improvements and ensure public safety. All individuals are encouraged to seek alternative parking and to follow posted signage to avoid enforcement measures.

Construction Timeline

Fire Flow Package #1 construction started in late September 2025, and the anticipated overall project completion is in Fall 2026. There are approximately 20 blocks in various locations (depicted in map herein) throughout the Flamingo Park Neighborhood included in the whole Package #1 project. Infrastructure work in each area is expected to take approximately five weeks.

What to Expect

  • Moderate levels of construction noise are expected during the day.
  • Equipment and container storage will be limited to designated areas.
  • Machinery and workers will be present on the job site. Residents are advised to use caution when crews are present and to follow all posted signage.
  • Pedestrian and traffic detours will be implemented as needed for safety.
  • All efforts are being made to minimize impacts to area residents and businesses.
  • Restoration activities will take place upon the project’s completion and will address areas impacted by the construction.
  • If you have a private parking space that you can not access during construction, please contact us with your vehicle details (make, model, color, tag) to make arrangements for alternate parking during construction.
  • Work schedule may change due to inclement weather or unexpected conditions.

Updates with the scheduled working locations will be provided throughout the project. To join the project email list, please contact the public information team - information below.
