Miami Beach Welcomes Pretium

The City of Miami Beach is thrilled to announce investment management firm Pretium has announced plans to open an office at Deco Capital Group's Eighteen Sunset, a Class A office building being constructed at 1769 Purdy Avenue in Miami Beach.

Tech Thought-Leadership Series 2023

eMerge Americas is partnering with Miami Beach to produce a series of forums targeted at diverse startups, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, financial services leaders and influencers interested in starting/expanding a business in Miami Beach or investing in a Miami Beach business. The 2023 series will focus and shine a light on diverse founders and their success stories as a means to connect, learn and grow the tech business community in Miami Beach. Love 41st Street

The Mayor’s 41st Street Committee created a campaign, in partnership with the City of Miami Beach, to encourage business owners and their patrons to love 41st Street by being more proactive in cleaning their storefront, reporting issues and appreciating their commercial corridor. Businesses are putting the flyers in their store windows and social media to inspire and in solidarity to make 41st Street more attractive. Click here for a printable copy.

iConnections Global Alts '23 Conference

 Miami Beach will be participating in the iConnections Global Alts ‘23 conference, Monday, January 30 – Thursday, February 2, 2023, in the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel. The conference attracts thousands of leading financial services leaders, allocators and fund managers where they discuss investments, finance, politics and economics and their impact on the market.


Miami Beach will have a sponsorship presence to connect with the iConnections community and encourage investment and development in Miami Beach.

In partnership with GEN, the Small Business Growth Fund provides the capital high-growth small business owners need to make their next big move. Each recipient will receive a $25,000 grant, provided by Mastercard, to accelerate their growth and achieve their goals in 2023.

Together with iFundWomen, Johnnie Walker is continuing to fund, mentor, and champion trailblazing women-owned businesses by awarding 10 businesses each with a $10,000 grant.

Elevate District 5 - BizHack Cohort

Applications are now open for the third cohort of Commissioner Higgins' partnership with BizHack "How to Find Customers Online". The course is an in-depth digital marketing training and personalized coaching for up to 40 businesses in District 5.


"How to Find Customers Online" is a free 7-week course that focuses on practical skills and strategy in online lead generation.


The course is part of Elevate District 5, Commissioner Higgins’ comprehensive recovery and growth plan that utilizes data and feedback to create, leverage, and expand existing small business programs and tools to support and strengthen small businesses in District 5. The program is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), President Biden's plan to provide direct relief to Americans and rescue the economy.

Scale Up D5 Program

Are you ready to scale your business? Commissioner Higgins is launching the Scale Up D5 Program in partnership with The Idea Center at Miami Dade College as part of the Elevate D5 initiative. Scale Up D5 is a hands-on business training program developed with one goal in mind: get you and your business ready to SCALE.

 

The Idea Center at Miami Dade College has trained more than 200 business owners in our community on how to tackle daily challenges in all the areas of operations, including marketing, finance, and strategy. Business owners will apply the learnings to their business with the guidance and support of specialized business advisors. In addition, business owners will have the opportunity to present their learnings and compete for a $5,000 prize towards your business.

 

The 8-week program starts on January 24, 2023, in English and Spanish. Applications can be found here

Miami Beach Emergency Small Business Expense Reimbursement Grant Funding Still Available

Small businesses in Miami Beach are encouraged to apply for a $20,000 emergency grant to cover rent, mortgage, utilities, payroll and operating expenses incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants are awarded on a first-come, first-qualified basis. Interested businesses may apply here.

City of Miami Beach Unveils New Vacant Storefront Cover Designs

The City of Miami Beach relaunched the Vacant Storefront Cover Program in a continued effort to improve the appearance of vacant, street-level commercial buildings and support the lease-up of retail spaces throughout the Miami Beach. Now the City is excited to announce five new designs have been added to the Program catalog.


First unveiled in 2019, this initiative supports property owners, brokers, realtors and property managers by wrapping vacant storefront windows free of charge with one of ten (10) artistic designs preapproved by the City.

Miami Beach Expedited Plan Review and Permitting Incentive Program

The City of Miami Beach is committed to diversifying the local economy by attracting and retaining companies in targeted industries like, financial services and technology. As part of this effort, the City is also offering an Expedited Plan Review and Permitting Program to incentivize targeted relocations, including expansions and associated development for companies. Miami Beach Job Creation Incentive Program

The City of Miami Beach is offering the Job Creation Incentive Program (JCIP), a performance-based incentive adopted by the City Commission. TESTING & VACCINATIONS

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Site Near City Hall

Nomi Health continues to operate the testing and vaccination site located on the first floor of the Pennsylvania Garage (G9) at 17 Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The site operates seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with no appointment necessary. Vaccines are administered until 5 p.m., while testing continues until 6 p.m. The site is also administering the COVID-19 vaccine for ages 6 months+ and offering single booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to those eligible to receive them. Nomi Health has opened an additional walk-up testing site at 8400 Collins Ave for ages 5 and up. This location also operates seven days a week from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. with no appointment necessary. It offers both rapid and PCR tests.
