What’s Happening

Please be advised of the following upcoming construction activities for the Fire Flow Packages (FFP), and associated parking and traffic impacts in your area:

Monday, Jan. 26 through Friday, Feb. 27, the contractors working on water main installation for the FFP projects will continue work in the following areas:

  • 10 Street between Alton Rd. and Jefferson Ave.
  • Meridian Ave. between 12 and 13 Streets
  • 18 Street east of Collins Ave.

Monday, Jan. 26 through Friday, Jan. 30

  • Trench restoration continues on Michigan Ct. from 7 Street toward 8 Street

On Monday, Feb. 9 through Friday, Feb. 13, asphalt restoration will take place on:

  • 7 Street from Alton Rd. to Jefferson Ct.
  • 8 Street from Lenox Ave. to Michigan Ct.

Water Main Testing Notice

Additionally, testing of the newly installed water main is currently underway throughout the project area. You may notice small taps of running water. Please do not touch, turn off or tamper with these taps. These tests are required by the Florida Department of Health and must run their full course without interruption. If they are stopped, the contractor (Amici Engineering Contractors) would need to restart the process, which would cause delays. This testing is an important step to ensure the neighborhood’s water system is safe and ready for use and we appreciate your cooperation and patience while it is completed. Please refer to the map below for location details.

Project Overviews

The Fire Flow Packages are critical infrastructure upgrade projects, designed to enhance the reliability and safety of the local water distribution system. The projects include upsizing existing water mains and installing new water connections to address areas that currently do not meet required fire flow standards.

Benefits

  • Improved fire protection and public safety
  • Increased system capacity and reliability
  • Upgraded water mains and connections (some of the existing lines are in place since the 1940s and 1950s)
  • Enhanced infrastructure to support future growth

Parking will be prohibited Monday through Sunday. Please see maps herein (above) for details on the impacted parking area.

For FFP 2, parking will be temporarily unavailable on the east side of Meridian Ave. between 12 and 13 Streets, as well as on both sides of 18 Street, east of Collins Ave. due to ongoing infrastructure work.
