G.O. Bond Neighborhood Reforestation Update

September 21, 2022

Project Overview and Benefits

The City of Miami Beach is reforesting your neighborhood through the G.O. Bond program. This voter-led initiative includes a citywide reforestation project that will plant trees within rights-of-way (ROW), parks and greenspaces.

What's Happening

As part of our Urban Forestry Master Plan, the Pine Tree and La Gorce Drive neighborhoods will benefit from these efforts to increase tree canopy coverage citywide. To date, the program has planted over 1,500 trees in neighborhoods across the city.

The swale areas adjacent to your property have been identified as potential locations for new trees. Planting of one or more trees will take place in the coming month.

City staff will identify the mark of the new tree locations with a stake.

These new canopy trees will improve the neighborhood aesthetics while also incorporating environmental benefits, such as:

  • Reducing surface temperatures
  • Stormwater management
  • Air quality
  • Enhanced property values
  • Walkable communities
  • Improving our tree equity score
