Facility Condition Assessment
Webinar on April 19; Opt-in by June 1
Dear Clergy and Wardens,

Beginning this month, each church property in our diocese is eligible for a facility condition assessment provided free of charge thanks to the support of the Trustees of the Diocese, the Church Foundation Trustees, Diocesan Council, and the Commission on Congregation Life. The assessments will be conducted by Smart Church Solutions. Your congregation can opt in to this initiative by emailing me at dgetreu@diosohio.org by June 1.

On April 19 from 1 to 2 p.m., leaders from Smart Church Solutions and I will host a webinar to provide a detailed overview of the facility condition assessment process. Register for the webinar via Zoom.

The assessment is designed to help your congregation identify the current condition of your facility, provide you with advice about your operational costs compared to national standards, and offer recommendations and assistance about how to plan for upcoming maintenance needs and capital projects. To learn more about the assessment and its benefits, visit the Smart Church Solutions website.

Because we can conduct this project most cost-effectively if we group congregations by geographic region, the deadline to sign up for facilities assessments is June 1. We hope to begin the first group of assessments in May, and schedule one group of five congregations each month thereafter until the work is done.

This project, several years in the making, will also help the Church Foundation Trustees and other diocesan leaders know more about the maintenance and repair needs of our congregations, allowing them to plan ways that the diocese might provide grant assistance and other technical support. By doing so, we hope to promote the physical and fiscal health of your congregation and the entire diocese now and in the future.

Please consider this opportunity to contribute your congregation’s sustainable future. Sign up for the April 19 webinar and email me to opt in to this initiative.

Yours in Christ,

The Rev. Canon David Getreu
Canon for Finance and Budget
