We're wrapping up March Dance Madness with the "Final Four" weekend of social dances: Contra, Hashdance, Swing, and TangoAt each dance, we'll have a few door prizes so be sure to grab a ticket when you enter. The door prize drawing will be free to enter, one ticket per dancer. We hope you'll come have a ball with us at the Park 🏀!


Next Sunday, April 5, do-si-do and swing your partner at an afternoon Bumper Car Squares dance! Caller Dakota Karper leads a rousing square dance invigorated by music from the William Brauneis Trio (William Brauneis - fiddle, Jonathan Vocke - guitar/banjo, & Dan Klingsberg - bass).


Two step the night away at a Honky Tonk Dance on Friday, April 17 . Featuring live music by Kiti Gartner & the Drifting Valentines, a band out of Washington DC who play western swing, rockabilly, old country and some jump blues. Band members are Kiti Gartner (vocals, rhythm), Zachary Sweeney (electric guitar), Jonathan Bozarth (upright bass), Brian Alpert (drums), Lynn Kasdorf (pedal steel guitar). A free dance lesson is included with admission, led by Sharon Schiliro and Michael Hart of Dancing by the Bayou. Things are heating up at Salsa & Bachata y más! On Friday, April 17, we'll start the evening off with beginner lessons in Salsa & Bachata followed by open dancing with DJ Sidekick. This series meets on the third Friday of the month in the Ballroom Back Room, open to all levels of experience. Expect friendly faces and effortless connection!


Co-presented with EducArte, Sarau de Samba is a joyous monthly celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture. Each session starts with a beginner dance lesson and is open to people of any skill level, no partner or instruments required. Join the celebration at the next Sarau de Samba on Sunday, April 26!


Our pilot Dance for PD® class series, presented in collaboration with Dance for PD® (Parkinson's Disease), continues in April! Classes meet in Arcade Building Classrooms 202 & 203 and are free for participants, care partners, and family members thanks to the generous support of program donors. Dance for PD® will not meet on April 1, but will be back to weekly Wednesday afternoon classes the following week.


We're back with more DanceFit: Shake Your Soul in April! Drop-in to any of our Saturday morning workouts at the door, pre-register in advance to grab the early bird discount, or try the 10-class package! Due to capacity, a limited number of registrations will be available in advance and at the door. Classes will meet in the Hall of Mirrors Dance Studio in April, so please bring shoes that have not been worn outside.


In addition to our fabulous social dance events, Glen Echo Park also hosts social dance classes in a variety of styles at various levels. Join District Zouk for a Brazilian Zouk & Lambada social at the Park—this time in the outdoor Bumper Car Pavilion! As usual, we'll have an open level beginner-friendly class followed by social dancing. We'll also have a lambada practica before the class so our lambada students and dancers can practice together. BUMPER CAR SQUARES

April 5 | 2:45pm - 5:30pm | Bumper Car Pavilion


Join us for Sunday afternoon square dancing at the Park! We'll start out with a square dance intro lesson for all skill levels from 2:45pm - 3:00pm. Then, caller Dakota Karper leads a rousing square dance invigorated by music from the William Brauneis Trio. The band will play from 3:00pm - 5:30pm so get ready for square dancing fun that still gets you home early. No need to worry about the weather! The Bumper Car Pavilion has industrial fans and overhead radiant heaters, ready for rain or shine, hot or cold.

WALTZ DANCE with Waltz Time

April 5 | 2:45pm - 6:00pm | Spanish Ballroom


Join Waltz Time for an afternoon of waltzing and more to live music! At 2:45pm, we offer a beginner lesson in social waltz (included with admission) which provides the basics and confidence to join right in dancing. At 3:30pm, TRIO CON BRIO with Elke Baker (fiddle), Paul Oorts (accordion, mandolin), and Jonathan Jensen (piano, vocals) provide live music consisting of mostly waltzes interspersed with polka, schottishe, tango, swing and other favorite styles.

VIENNESE WALTZ WORKSHOP with DanceSport Endurance

April 11 | 2:30pm - 5:00pm | Spanish Ballroom


Learn the basics of social Viennese Waltz in this workshop with Todd and Migle of DanceSport Endurance which includes lessons and supervised and assisted dancing. Schedule: 2:30pm - 2:45pm Warm-up | 2:45pm - 4:15pm Lesson | 4:15pm - 5:00pm Social Viennese Waltz Dancing.

BALLROOM DANCE with Ballroom Time

April 12 | 2:45pm - 6:00pm | Spanish Ballroom


Ballroom Time presents a ballroom dance in the Spanish Ballroom on Sunday afternoon. A beginner lesson in Ballroom Waltz will take place at 2:45pm, followed by dancing to music by the Night & Day Band from 3:30pm - 6pm. During the afternoon, there will be a mixer and some samba line dancing.

VOLUNTEER FOR PARTNERSHIP DANCES


We need volunteers at many of our dances! Volunteer for one hour, to either help set up or break down for a dance or event, and gain free admission to the dance or event!
