The Velocity Summer Internship Program is a partnership with the Vista Unified School District.

Velocity Summer Internship Program: Applications Now Open!

The Velocity Summer Student Internship Program is open to incoming high school seniors, graduating class of 2027.

Students must live in Vista or attend a school that's part of the Vista Unified School District.

The Vista Chamber of Commerce covers the interns' pay for up to 100 hours.

Businesses must be members of the Vista Chamber of Commerce.


Student application deadline: Sunday, April 5 at 11:59pm.

Business application deadline: Friday, April 10 at 11:59pm.

Regional Civics Bee Competition - Deadline Extended!

Essay Submission Deadline Extended! Due to widespread storm impacts, the National Civics Bee® has implemented an extension of the essay submission deadline to February 17, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time. Apply today here.

 

This annual, nonpartisan competition encourages young people to flex their civics knowledge, get involved in their communities, and top students will get to compete for grand prizes including a $100,000 education savings plan contribution for the national champion. When they win, schools win too! The first-place winner in each state may also secure a $5,000 donation for their school.

Office of Assemblywoman Laurie Davies, Woman of the Year Nomination

For the past three years, our office has proudly honored Women’s History Month by hosting our annual Woman of the Year Awards, celebrating the extraordinary women making a difference in our local communities. We’re excited to host the Woman of the Year celebration once again, and we need your help to ensure the women in our district receive the recognition they deserve. If you know a woman who has made a meaningful civic impact over the past year, we encourage you to nominate her using this survey: 2026 Woman of the Year.

The nominee must live or work in the 74th Assembly District (Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Camp Pendleton, Vista & Oceanside) and nominations must be submitted by February 20th to be considered. 

2026 Vista Irrigation District Scholarship Contest

Deadline: Friday, February 20 at 4:00pm

Vista Irrigation District invites local high school seniors to compete for scholarships from the district. Up to six scholarships may be awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. The purpose of the scholarship program is to encourage students to learn more about how water related issues influence our daily lives.

Students who compete for a scholarship must complete an essay and provide a personal statement related to their background and/or goals. Selection criteria also includes community involvement or volunteer service and a letter of recommendation from high school faculty. Learn more here.
