As I get ready for our Market Party, I’m remembering all the fun we had while in Chicago for the spring trade show. I know the nickname Windy City isn’t really derived from the weather phenomena, but… One sunny afternoon, we stopped for lunch while walking around the neighborhood. The trendy little cafe had outdoor seating - so, why not? The wind wasn’t too big an issue, until all the menus blew down the sidewalk! We enjoyed our yummy lunch, while clutching our bags, and napkins. Next was a stroll through the neighborhood to get back home. I enjoy seeing the historic homes, so I insisted on a wandering path, adding a bunch of steps to the walk, but also views of beautiful gardens and architecture. We came upon a house running the sprinkler full out. Youngest suggested we cross the street to stay out of its way, but I waited, planned my moment, and leaned forward as the sprinkler moved away… Who would have dreamed a strong windburst could blow the flowing water in completely the reverse direction?! For some unknown reason, once completely soaked, I made my way out into the street to “stay dry”. I guess no matter how carefully you plan, sometimes life's headwinds have other ideas…
Wishing you calm moments this week,
Mary Beth
