We certainly meet a range of people in the shop on any given day. As I headed toward the office last week, a man approached the counter with a brochure. I heard only the beginning of his conversation with the staff member behind the counter before the office door closed. He asked if we would like to be a U-Haul neighborhood location… Can you just imagine?! Your favorite parking spot wouldn’t be taken by another sewist, but instead by a big truck, or several big trucks. Then there’s the fear that I would need to move one of said trucks… We discussed whether we might be good at figuring what size truck someone needed. How different can it be from figuring how much fabric is needed for backing?! Anyway, youngest dealt with a neighborhood location in another city last week. The poor business owner was completely frustrated, finding it almost impossible to make it through the truck return process. No need to worry about your parking space - she forbid us from considering it!

Hope your week rolls along smoothly,

Mary Beth

This Saturday (10-17-26) those in our applique Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. The meeting will begin with a look at new things in the shop, a review of upcoming events, and then we will move on to the new block in the series. As if that wasn’t enough, we will also share setting directions for your 2026 sampler! Don’t forget your block from last month for show and tell!

QC From Our Table!

November 7th - 21st

We would love to have you add a stop in the shop to your early November plans. Our From Our Table event is always a resounding success, mainly because you all support the effort! If you have never stopped in during the event before, let me explain. Your friends that work in the shop create tabletop displays, featuring brand new table runners and toppers accented by the things they would use with them in their homes. You get to participate by voting for your favorite. The little twist - you garner ballots by bringing donations for the local independent food pantry (I can’t tell you how grateful they are for your support!!!). At the end of the event we award prizes for the favorite displays - you could win a kit for one of the favorites!

I’m excited to share some news - the 2027 American Patchwork and Quilting calendar is on its way to the shop! You might wonder why I would be excited to share a wall calendar… Well, the photos are lovely, but it’s not just the pictures that grace each month - patterns for every project are included in the booklet that accompanies the calendar! The projects are different in size, style, color, technique - so much inspiration. One project even includes applique. The applique is bold and bright - easy to work by hand or machine. Can you guess how I would know?! Stop in to take a look at the quilt featured on the June page! Consider placing a special order for one today. $34.96

Be sure to check your 2026 QC date book for two coupons this month! One deals with color and fabric, the other with batting - obviously both crucial when it comes to quilts! This is probably also a good time to let you know that we are working on the 2027 version of our shop date book. The information packed little calendar makes its debut during our holiday open house, (November 6th and 7th) when it is our gift to you! If you miss the open house, no worries - they will be available for $1.99 each after the open house, for as long as the supply lasts.

I can’t believe I’m saying this - there are fabulous new panel prints in the shop. With the advent of digital printing, the artwork can now be exceptional! The newest additions include Klimty Cats, Starry Night, Sunflower Serenade, and many others. Tree of Life, new from P&B, is a great example of what can now be printed. The nature inspired watercolor artwork, by Sylvie Demers, includes allover prints, but the true stars are the panels. The large tree, worked in vibrant greens, fuchsia, and blue, could be the center of a bed size quilt, while the 10” panel is another one that will be perfect in Villa Rosas’ Crackled pattern. Happy colors, whimsical design - perfect to bring a smile in the colder months ahead! Fabric $14.79 per yard, panels $15.55, $10.75
