Quiltmaking 101

Friday ~ September 4th, 11th and October 9th ~ 10:30am-1:30pm

Quiltmaking 101 is a class for beginners or anyone who wants to get back to basics. This three part series will begin with discussion of basic quiltmaking tools, and then move on to pressing, cutting, and 1/4” seam sewing. You will be making a table runner or small quilt as you learn the basics, including finishing off your piece with batting and binding.

Freemotion Machine Quilting

Wednesday ~ September 9th ~ 10:30am-1:30pm

Freehand machine quilting can be liberating! Machine quilting allows a quick completion of projects. As with any technique, setting up your machine properly is a must. And then, of course, practice makes better! Please join Jill for this introduction to freehand machine quilting- you’ll be off to a great start!

Santa Cutie 

Saturday ~ September 12th ~ 10:30am-12:30pm and October 3rd ~ 10:30am-1:30pm

Join in some holiday stitching fun with a pattern by Janet Nesbitt from One Sister. Santa Cutie is a pieced block (half the block is Santa the other half a tree) made with what Janet calls “General Craziness” along with a small amount of applique. 

Divided into two sessions - session one will talk about fabric requirements and placement, required notions, working with templates and cutting for the project (yup, a bit of homework so you will be ready for session two!). Session two will be all about sewing a Santa Cutie block, how to square the block, and border discussion.

Machine Binding 

Wednesday ~ September 16th ~ 10:30am-1:30pm

It’s that time of year, the holidays are looming and projects are almost complete. One last thing to finish - the binding. Join Jill as she teaches a wonderful way to bind your quilts quickly and efficiently. This method is worked completely by machine with stunning results. You’ll have your projects completed in record time!

Machine Applique 

Saturday ~ October 17th ~ 10:30am-1:30pm

Ruth Ann is a master applique artist and teacher (her version of the first block in our 2024 applique series, shown here, is a marvelous example of her work!). In this technique class she will focus on teaching the details of the technique as you create small sample pieces - everything from machine set up, to the required supplies, to a range of stitches that can be used for the technique. The pieces Ruth Ann’s students share are stunning, yours can be too!
